This song is about the denial felt by someone struggling with mental illness or problems other major problems which are apparent to everyone else but that they dismiss. "You're readin' my mind you won't look in my eyes You say I do things that I don't realize" Another song on the album, Eye in the Sky, also talks about mind reading. I think this is the alternate viewpoint of the girlfriend (let's say) who's mixed up and confused, being analyzed and told exactly what's wrong with her by her boyfriend (who's rejected her) and maybe her psychologist. Everyone else can see right through her but when anyone actually tries to help her by expliaining what's wrong, all she hears is "psychobabble rap" which doesn't connect to her own self-image, and thus is completely useless and unconstructive. |

| The only thing in this song that could come close to suggesting abortion is the chorus, but anything could be portrayed as "lively", and that's always something that is terrible to lose. But it's obviously a happy, upbeat song, and has nothing to do with abortion. He's just happy with who he's with, and doesn't want what they have to end 'cause of a whatever problems they're having. | |

I have to agree with everyone else mentioning the Concerto for a Rainy Day --- together all four of these songs are absolutely fantastic, great rainy-day music. I've always heard the end of this song as "This Side is Over" -- because then I have to get up and turn the album over. |

Oh man, this song is so cool! How has no one commented? This is the story of an outspoken activist rock star, who's radical ideas were enough to get him assassinated. Lots of Golden Earring songs have really terrible lyrics. This is a glaring exception -- some of the verses are hauntingly good. "That song called kill me" -- like he's painting a target on his forehead, and then the biblical comparison. It's very potent stuff, this song. All-round awesome. |

I know Tiresias was in King Oedipus -- he was the blind psychic who knew the tragic ending, and almost got executed for treason for not telling the Oedipus, even though he'd still get punished 'cause what he knew was so horrible. And I highly doubt the Satanic lyrics there, inpraiseoffolly. Especially seeing as "slaw lessack seeth" sounds nothing like "oh sad Satan". Anyways, this songs is great -- highly underrated. In fact the whole Grand Illusion album is fantastic. |
