Amazing song, perfect opener for the masterpiece that is Konk.

slight corrections:

For all the times I never never turned her way
And now she's here on someone else's arm

mince words such as Eargasm and Joygasm were invented for single word descriptions of songs like these. =]

Millencolin – Vicious Circle Lyrics 18 years ago
brilliant song. i can't wait to see them play this live. this song is quite different from every other track on the album - and reminds me a lot of the Home From Home LP.

I think the meaning is fairly clear here - everybody has been in this boat, where times are rough and are probably not going to get any better, you both can see that and both know that it needs to end, but still can't. when the word 'lovers' becomes a paradox.

as with most millencolin songs, it can be hard to hear the lyrics.. i think the following adjustments need to be made. can anyone back me up?

'Oh, should we try to have some cuts,'
'.. try to have some kids'

'Or best yet, why don’t we move our grot?'
'...why don’t we move apart?'

'I messed you up'
'.. mess you up' (except first time after bridge)

i like it.. i agree it has a bit of a country sound... but that description doesn't really cut it.

i'm going to go with Kings Of Leon-esque :) lol

Ben Lee – Love Me Like The World Is Ending Lyrics 18 years ago
clearly his best song yet.
-----

"i wear a pair of socks you left here.
but i know ... nobody could ever fill your shoes."

"please me with your promises and hurt me with your lies"

"and they all say to pour it has to rain
so don't complain if we get wet in the deep end."

Copeland – You Have My Attention Lyrics 18 years ago
i take it back.

i take it all back man. all 4 months.

this song is still rad, but looses it's appeal once you fall out of love. seems kinda wimpy now i think about it

Pink – Leave Me Alone (I'm Lonely) Lyrics 18 years ago
pretty sure you're just reading too far into it greenman.

the echo before the chorus isn't some sort of way of delivering a 'more sinister' message.
just an effect. that sounds cool. that is all.

i wish people didn't double post. let alone quadruple post.

awesome track. in fact, the entire album is awesome - it flows right through, i love it! the whole album reminds me of my 'significant other' - definitely getting her this album.

PIGEON DETECTIVES ROCK!

Copeland – You Have My Attention Lyrics 19 years ago
Like nearly every song on the planet,
there is no correct way to interpret a song -- because nobody knows what particular personal situation the songwriter is referring to.
none of this is really important. what is important is when a song (as powerful as this one) connects with you, speaks out to you, and warms you as you relate to it on a personal level.
This is the goal for nearly all songwriters (who put effort and feeling into their lyrics): to deliever a personal message, but allow the listeners to take it on for their own meaning.

for me, this song initially told the story of a couple who was growing apart etc etc. on a deeper listen, i took it as he Fears if/when they grow apart, and he is just reiterating that the way he feels for his girl is exactly the same as the first day he met her, and even though things between them Might change, Might 'grow softer,' he still feels the same way about her.

On a personal level, this song makes me realise that when a relationship first starts out, it's all fun and games, but after you settle down, it tends to loose its spark or chemistry (which is one of the primary reasons some people get together these days).
This song reminds me how important it is to keep the romance and not let a love fade or die, and to not take the other person for granted.

I know very well that most people on here wouldn't care, but I am in a new relationship with an amazing girl who for so long, did not know how i felt about her. our connection was so strong from the very beginning, and i guess she 'had my attention' right from the get go. This song makes me realise how important it is to show that person that you love them, and how important it is to prevent yourself from losing something great that you might have by neglect.

well thats my story anyway.

Millencolin – Otis Lyrics 19 years ago
This song was all I could breathe for the month leading up to breaking up with my long-time highschool girlfriend. we were together close to two years, but in my mind we were over long before it.

I needed her to know that the feelings I had for her were gone, but I would always care for her -- This was just my time to move on and stand on my own two feet, and find a new direction in life.

thats my story and what the song means to me, anyway.
