I know this song is most likely about an abusive relationship, but I take it to mean something completely different. Five years ago someone who was like a brother to me killed himself. It still tears me to shreds when I think about it. He listened to this song a lot. But once he was gone, I found it extremely bittersweet. To me, this song is about a survivor of someone who committed suicide. "I see the blood all over your hands Does it make you feel more like a man? Was it all just a part of your plan? The pistol's shaking in my hands And all I hear is the sound." It just fits so well. |

Someone who was like a brother to me committed suicide a few years ago. I was so ANGRY at him, it was unbelievable. This song is the only one I've ever heard that displays my exact feelings for him in my life now. Yeah, I know I should've forgiven him by now, but there's something inside me that just wants to keep calling him a selfish bastard. Anyway, this song is completely awesome. And thanks to it, others now know how I've felt for years. It was about time that someone else besides me knew how I felt, too. So, thanks Aaron, and the rest of Staind. |

Yes, this song is most likely about a break-up, but I take it to be about a broken friendship. One of my best friends just told me that they wanted to forget all about me, out of nowhere. I was devastated, and then I heard this song. It fits with my situation so well. I absolutely love it. |

Have any of you actually seen the show Instant Star? I watch it all the time, it's one of my favorites. Oh, and by the way, in an interview Alexz said that her brother wrote the song, not her. Anyway, in the show it's quite obvious that her character wrote it about her father after learning that he was cheating on her mother. "When I look in your eyes I don’t see mine..." Isn't that a little obvious? I mean, the only way you would see your own eyes on someone else, is if you were looking at a parent or a sibling. At least, that's what makes the most sense to me. But of course, I'm also very bitter when it comes to people automatically thinking that all songs are about 'romantic' relationships. I've completely had it with that idiotic assumption... |

Oh yeah, of course this song is about a romantic relationship. Why in the world would it not be? Oh, and note my sarcasm there. I'm so sick of the world being completely obsessed with automatically thinking that all songs are about 'romantic' relationships. News flash, they aren't. To me, this song is about a broken friendship. Friendship. F-R-I-E-N-D-S-H-I-P. Not a romantic relationship. I'm coming from experience here, because one of my friends just betrayed me and this songs really does help me in that I can relate to it. So, next time you hear a song, don't jump to the conclusion that it's about a boyfriend/girlfriend type of thing. Because there's always a big chance that it's not. Got it? |
