DragonForce – Through the Fire and Flames Lyrics 14 years ago
Yeah man. I have the CD, and I'll probably never go see them live, so whatever they did to make it sound like it does is cool with me.

I challenge anyone to listen to this song and NOT get pumped up for whatever it is they have to do.

Misfits – Helena Lyrics 14 years ago
Agreed. I mean, does everybody else have to stop playing just because one guy leaves? Hell no. I've heard people give Sublime shit for continuing without Bradley Nowell, and I'm just like "Uh, maybe they STILL WANT TO PLAY MUSIC."

Goddammit, how in the HELL did I not see that before (facepalm)?! That's some Class-A fridge logic right there.

Misfits – Saturday Night Lyrics 14 years ago
This has probably all been said before, so I apologize if it has.

My interpretation of this song is that it is about a serial killer who routinely murders his girlfriends. However, he grows attached to his most recent one (presumably Amy), but his compulsion forces him to kill her anyway. As a result, he feels lonely, depressed, and guilty. It's possible (although this is speculation) that he was so hurt by losing her that he can't stand the killing anymore, so he turns himself in to the authorities to finish it. For her. By then it's the ONLY thing he can do for her.

Yes, yes, I know: the Danzig Misfits were far superior. Everybody knows that. That being said, I really enjoyed this album, and this song especially (also, Scream!, if only for the Romero-directed music video). I mean, punk AND doo-wop? Genius. And the genre-bending fits perfectly with the subject matter. This song is touching and heartbreaking in a way only the Misfits (Danzig or not) could pull off. Also, it's an absolute blast to sing. The change to a higher key for the second chorus really adds some genuine emotion. Brilliant all around.

Tool – Parabola Lyrics 16 years ago
I could break down and interpret every line in this song (one of the reasons I love Tool so much), and I agree with schism5 that any one of several different theories has some truth to it. The best part about a well-written song is ambiguity. To a certain extent, it is up to the listener to come up with their own idea about the meaning of the song. To me, it's an overwhelming message that we should be thankful for our time in this life, regardless of whether there is an afterlife, and that we should make the most of what we are given.

Fucking awesome song. Fucking awesome band. Also worth noting is that Danny Carey is hands down one of the best drummers in rock. So, yeah.
