Wow....Blink 182 was crap when they were not sold out....they really were a bad punk band....Butthen they sold out and refined their sound...and still sucked. However this sucking was melodic and tasteful (Not really). It was fun. It made people want to be stupid and have a good time. To many it defined middle school or high school. These kids dont think they r punk...they just liked the energy and catchy guitar. You people seem to feel that punk is the ultimate form of music and that if you sell out, you cant be punk, and that if a band isnt sold out they are good. well, while many punk bands are great, musically they are usually simple (with many exceptions). Stop defining music as either punk or not punk and stop defining punk as good. A lot of punk SUCKS. Blink 182 was in it for fun, until they tried to get serious and found differences on an artistic level....Leave it at that. dont get into the punk nonsense. |

This song speaks to me...It is clearly a protest song against Bohemian slaughtering of walrus. Each syllable drips with an angry fury against the fascist poaching of these magestic creatures. |

In response to the "she brings this liberation" idea about Lady Liberty...I have this to say: Boxcar was about breaking out of the stereotype of punk and doing your own thing. |

Boxcar defined the American punk movement and what was wrong with it...It was written in response to Jawbreaker's selling out..It proved that the band could still be punk even on a big label....Greenday, having the same issue (proving themselves punk in spite of selling out), definitely is making a point that while they are sold out, they remember the movement. "She's the one that they call old whats her name." |

Are you all brain dead? this song is paying homage to Jawbreaker, a band that was around when Greenday was young. They influenced Billy Joe and his mates. She's a Rebel is ABOUT BOXCAR, the character from Jawbreaker's song Boxcar, a song that defines punk while at the same time pokes fun at it. "she's a symbol of resistance"makes it even more obvious. The fact that it uses the same chords and everything (minus the revolution part which subs in a different build up) makes it even more obvious. Good golly people. |
