| Classic byop reckless fun. Couldn't stop listening to it for like a week straight. Inspired me to make a byop shirt with a big ol $1000 dollar bill on the front | |

| Avril Lavigne – Girlfriend Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Fallen Leaves -- I'm going to use you to make a point. Yes, the song is catchy; sure, it might be a parody. I can see where people can be getting that from. But apparently while Avril was romping about(being a "motherfucking princess") she forgot that just like her first hit, she's going to attract a crowd that probably can't even spell "Complicated." You say Avril is a genius because of this 'parody'? Where was her genius when she wasn't thinking about how many naive, young girls are listening to this song on TV/the radio/phones/iPods and are hearing that it's cool to be a slut. Of course, one might say "Oh, they should know better." or "Why are you getting so defensive?" Well, why are you not getting repulsed at the thought of prepubescent girls being taught and revealed to things like this. They're probably thinking "I hear this song everywhere, it's so popular. All my friends are singing it. Everyone thinks Avril is so cool and pretty. Doing as this song says = popularity, friends, other people thinking I'm cool and pretty." I remember when I was in middle school and I went and wore those plastic 'sex' bracelets because all the cool kids were wearing them, even though none of us had sex or were old enough to comprehend what they meant. I never thought Avril was deep, or wrote meaningful lyrics. Sorry. She always struck me as that person who tries too hard to look like she's so naturally different and unique. But the fact is, she is for the most part mainstream, and she should know her music reaches ALL ears, regardless of age. Also, if it's a parody, why didn't she try to dress up as Paris Hilton, the Hugest Whore of the 21st Century, or the like? The girl in the video who was rubbin all up against someone else's man was Avril dressed up like a punk. Yeah, it sure is punk when you have more STDs than Lindsay Lohan and then make little girls emulate you. |

"What, what did you do to your back hips Soft ones, curled lips can't get 'em back Junk jump! Off too much time for Old beats, cold beats, I'm just cold meat" This reminds me of word salad or clang assocation that schizos do. No offense to Karen O. Trust me, that woman is a goddess. But that particular verse is just out there. |

| Kings of Convenience – Cayman Islands Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I love this song. It reminds me of Iron & Wine, except I like the vocals here a little better. AND, I'm from the Cayman Islands so even though it has nothing to do with the song, I think that's pretty rad. I think it's more about escaping with someone you love that hasn't exactly won the approval of friends/family/etc. Kind of like Romeo and Juliet. It's like they're in this place away from the rest of the world, just the two of them, and in that one moment everything is perfect even though they (or at least the singer) knows it won't last forever. "These canals, it seems, they all go in circles Places look the same, and we're the only difference" I think he's talking about the cycle of trying to stay with each other despite pressures from their environment, but the 2nd line..? I honestly don't know for sure. All in all, gorgeous song. |

| The Grates – Trampoline Lyrics | 18 years ago |

When I first heard this song, I thought Karen O. had been reincarnated and her soul was still dishing out lusty lines full of innuendo. And then I thought no, Karen is still alive and kickin', so the singer obviously must have been drafted by KO herself and fashioned to be Karen: The Sequel. But apparently, in reality, the singer's name is Patience and she lives in the UK or something. All that really matters is my top-secret, hot fetish for trampolines is embodied in this song, and I can listen to it in my car while I turn the heater on full blast, thus making it a hot machine. And as a final notice, did anybody else notice you can't spell "trampoline" without "TRAMP"? HA. |

NO comments? What?! Well, I think this song is fantastic. Obviously it's about being left behind by a loved one. But you can't let them go....sad. |

Everyone else has pretty much summed how awesome this song is/what it means/different interpretations/once again, how AWESOME this song is....but, getting off track, has this song ever been used in a movie or TV show or something? I just KNOW I've heard it before but it's killing me that I can't remember :/ |

| Avril Lavigne – Girlfriend Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This song speaks to me. Before, I wasn't sure if I should become a capital-S slut and give up all dignity, but hey, if Avril can steal some girl's man, so can I! It's truly heartwarming to turn on the radio and hear such inspirational tunes (like "Promiscuous") that motivate girls of all ages to reach for their dreams; or at least, for the pants zipper on the guy next to them. |
