uh, no, you're wrong. atheists and nihilists are not the same. atheists don't believe in gods or god-like beings. that's far different than not believing in anything. ET isn't a Christian band. they have some songs with anti-religious overtones. they're just a good fucking hardcore band. |

lol you're one arrogant fucker, huh? you really know me? you know when I started listening to a band? please, i'd love to know how. you're just a pretentious internet asshole. as i said, get over yourself.
the first two rise against songs I heard were heaven knows and 1,000 good intentions. the first full cd i heard from them was siren song, and then revolutions per minute and the unraveling. ive listened to rise against for a good 4 or 5 years now, so stop acting like you know me, because, well, clearly, you don't.
is this album different than past stuff? yeah, sure. its not as hard and fast. but here's the thing...EVERY BAND CHANGES. this isn't my favorite album by them. in fact, it's my least favorite of their 5 albums, but that doesn't mean it sucks and that they're "an entirely different rise against" and that they sold out because...none of that is true. bands change and evolve and experiment with different sounds.
im just sick of hearing the same stupid lame comments every time a band releases a new album. i heard the same shit when ts&tw came out. its just fucking ridiculous. a shift in sound doesn't mean the band sold out, nor does it mean that the album sucks and that its no longer the same band. |

agreed with aardvarkscanfly, and please, grow up. every time a punk band releases a new album, loads of morons call them "sell outs" and say "this sounds nothing like them" etc etc. its because you morons are all resistant to change and new things, which is exactly what bands like rise against speak FOR.
grow the fuck up and get over yourselves. |

Uh, dude, this song is NOT about abortion. In fact, and sorry to burst your bubble, Rise Against is pro-choice.
For proof, http://www.prochoiceamerica.org/news/press-releases/2004/22040129_punkvoter.html
To me, this song is about revolution. It's about taking back control of our lives from the fools in power, and taking back the power and giving it to whom it rightfully belongs - the people. |

I agree with MissNeurotic. I just posted against xtruestoryx in one of the other Casey Jones songs pages. I'm as straight edge as they come, but douchbags like xtruestoryx give straight edge a bad name. I'm sxe for myself, and this song means a lot to me because I'm one of the last kids I know that's still sxe. There used to be a huge sxe scene in my town, and now me and one other kid are the only ones that haven't broken. That group that's broke includes my former best friend thats now basically dedicated his life to drugs. |

xtruestoryx, you're the fucking type of dick that gives straight edge a bad name. Be straight edge for your fucking self and let other people live their own lives however they want. I'm straight edge to the fucking bone, but I'm not going to hate somebody because they choose to do drugs. That's just stupid and fucking ignorant. Grow up. |

they werent necessarily a "joke" band, but they were shortlived. and there are some douchebag straight edge kids that push it on others, but not all edge kids are like that. im edge and nearly every kid i hang out with is a pothead/druggie . i do it for myself. this song isnt about beating other people up. its about fighting back against the kids that try to push drugs on to people and insult people for their way of life (ie. sxe). |

I'm not entirely sure on the last line.
"The tortured love in memories are never meant to last."
It also sounds like "the torture, love, and memories are never meant to last" or "the tortured love and memories are never meant to last" |

| Leftover Crack – Atheist Anthem Lyrics

I'm straight edge. I hate religion. I love Leftover Crack. I love this song.
There is no way to prove God. There is no way to disprove God. Organized religion, however, is a man-made structure used to strike fear into people and control the masses.
The straight edge line is referring to straight edge kids who hail straight edge as some sort of religion, yet break it anyway. Personally, to me, straight edge is something you're supposed to do for yourself. I don't push it on anybody. In fact, nearly 100% of the people I hang out with are complete potheads. That's not the point that.
And to you idiots who actually think Leftover Crack believes in Satan, get a fucking brain. An athiest BY DEFINITION doesn't believe in Satan. All the references to satan are satrirical and for shock value. |

Their lyrics aren't preachy. They sing what they believe in.
It's not "communism has gotta to stop". The girl says "The point is it has to be stopped" |

Yeah, great song. Thought Riot is straight edge, but the song is about the people that do it just to fit in or to be cool. If you're gonna be edge, do it because it's the path for you and make sure its your own choice. Don't do it because somebody else is. |

StillNotDead: First of all, learn the fucking definition of emo. A song about the US Defense budget is by definition NOT emo. Secondly, why are they sell outs? The sound of For Blood andEmpire is comparable to their sound in A New Kind of Army. They got me in to punk to, and so I'm not going to go and ditch them just because they're making a living doing what they love and spreading their message. People like you make me sick, and I'm sure they don't give a shit that they lost you as a fan. You're not their "complete audience" |
