| Beyoncé – Ring the Alarm Lyrics | 19 years ago |

this song is about Jay-z and rihanna.- And the thought of you just touching her Is what I hate most?- To know you give it to her like you gave it to me, come on apparently beyonce is not happy about how close jay-z and rihanna have become lately, and recently went mad when the two were caught at a baseball game together.(He's so arrogant and bold She gon' love that shit, I know- sounds like jay-z alright!) on the video when she says 'Not the picture perfect movie everyone would've saw' she does the 'roc' symbol with her hands, its subtle but noticeable, and its jay-z's trademark. they have also tried very hard to be seen as the perfect black professional couple, and beyonce is implying its all a scam, but she's worked too hard on this image and her position just to jack it all in and leave rihanna to step in and profit from all her hard work. but she may drag his name through the mud and the media if pushed: 'I done put in a call, time to ring the alarm 'Cause you ain't never seen a fire like the one I'ma 'cause!' is ringing the alarm like blowing the whistle? ;) btw, she doesn't literally mean she is gonna choke him, 'choke' is rap lingo for being to nervous to say anything (see 8 mile when 'rabbit' is unable to rap.)ie when she asks jay-z about his infidelities, he can't come up with an answer. |

| it is a really sad song and seems full of regret and sorrow and suggetions that maybe he is even willing to jack it all in. i heard it was written shortly after splitting from denise van outen. glad he seems a little happier these days. | |
| The Smiths – Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before Lyrics | 19 years ago |

to me it sounds like a car crash-the result of drink driving perhaps (one drink became 4 etc) 'emergency stop', 'crashed down on the crossbar',and the many references to pain suggest crashing. perhaps he was an unreliable husband and his wife, finally having enough of his drinking and bad excuses/lies for lateness etc (stop me if you think you've heard this one before, who said i lied etc), decided his failure to arrive home on time was the final straw in a long list of grievances and left him, except ironically this time he had an excuse for not showing up- he was in an accident and possibly charged with drink driving (i was detained, restrained.) perhaps he feels guilty for his bad behaviour and wants his wife to know he still loves her, only slightly less than he used to, because she left him when he needed her most. i can't get on with the domestic abuse definition, the song doesn't sound like its sung from a females point of view. |
