I feel like there are really 3 different stories in this song, or at least 2. the first part, the 2 verses are about a pair of lovers, whether they be married or whatever, have a falling out and each feels it was their own fault and each tries to convince themself (not anybody else) that they are not the devil and that they are not evil, or what have you. The second story is contained entirely in the bridge, and I believe it to be Aaron's story, to his wife possibly, saying that he took her for granted and he wants to make ammends for that and again he tries to convince himsef (possibly his wife or whomever this part of the song is written for also) that he is not the devil also a couple side notes, Tormented, i can see a drug reference in this song, not for sure cocain, but "sometimes when I medicate"... and to cowchpotato, its not always a choice to be different. some people have no control over their differentness (if that's even a word) |

| Staind – Can't Believe Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this is probably my favorite Staind song to cover, if only for the looks I get when I do that crazy scream voice on the verses. I played this song at a club once that well, funny story, actualy turned out to be a mormon club (my band was the first to perform). when we finished this song I stood there, waiting for applause, and had only dead silence, people staring at me with thier eyes popping out of their sockets, their jaws just hanging there, as if they simply could not believe what they had just heard. the person who asked to me to come play the club later told me, "that didn't even sound human" | |
| Staind – Blow Away Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This is one of the few songs on "14 Shades of Grey" that I find just mind blowing. Aaron Lewis really lives up to his potential in this song, the notes are high, forte and sustained, the music digs into your soul and makes you want to scream (in a good way) | |

| I think Aaron Lewis should get out of the professional music game while he's still ahead, over the past ten years I've seen a shocking decline in the power of his voice. (Probably because of the cigarettes) Also on the later Staind albums (14 shades of Grey, Chapter V) they take a lot fewer risks, and the music in my opinion is not quite as extraordinary, though still good. I have concerns about the next release Aaron/Staind will make if he/they continue in this trend | |
