The Wombats – Kill The Director Lyrics 17 years ago
Yeah, the interview said that the Wombats hated the movie 'The Holiday' and wrote this song about it. If that's the case, it's a pretty catchy complaint.... :D

Barenaked Ladies – Blame It On Me Lyrics 18 years ago
I love this song - partly because of the way they play with words (they say that absence makes the heart grow fungus) expectations (I wax poetic while you're waxing your legs) and how they seem to capture a hard to express idea/feeling in so few words (think you're so smart, but I've seen you naked).

Barenaked Ladies – Be My Yoko Ono Lyrics 18 years ago
Did anyone else crack up the first time they heard the guys trying to sound like Ono?

Counting Crows – Holiday In Spain Lyrics 18 years ago
Love the lines ' They left the television screaming that the radio's on
Someone stole my shoes
But there's a couple of bananas and a bottle of booze'
just seems so surreal - just like the bleary eyed feeling the morning after a huge night

Tori Amos – Carbon Lyrics 18 years ago
The person, Neil, in the song is her good friend and author Neil Gaiman. Gaiman wrote a story 'Snow Glass Apples' about Snow White, but from the step-mother's pov where Snow White was evil. Read it and you'll never think of Snow White the same again. Love this song

John Mayer – Come Back To Bed Lyrics 18 years ago
Though some of the lyrics are beautiful - namely the often mentioned one above "I survive on the breath you are finished with' - a line at the end always amuses me. 'You can be mad in the morning/ or the afternoon instead'. Anyone else have the same thing?
