Well, I think I'll be the only one making a comment here... Don't need too much brain to explain what's happening here.. Realizing that the one you love is in love with someone else, really sets you free.. I never knew how much until my ex-girlfriend ended up with another guy, hope she's happy, I am. No more sappy drama. End of the story. ^_^x |

Any person who hears music knows that the most used theme in lyrics is love, and so this is also a love song, stop making strange and esoteric interpretations. Generally the most simple explanation is the most accurate: Context: A young boy is in Africa while his love is away in another continent for a long time. He really misses her and the day (actually the night) of her returnal has come. That night, while he is in Africa, he is hearing the drums normally played there, while at the same moment she is the plane, hearing only the whispers of the other passenger's conversations on the plane that arrives at 12:30. He has really longed to see her, and to be with her is his salvation, so, the moonlit wings and the stars are the ones bringing her to him He has so much to say to her (and sometimes it's so hard to say all the things inside) so, he asked the old man anxsiously what to say; maybe some long forgotten romantic words, or some ancient love song? the old man just tells the boy: "Hurry boy, It's waiting there for you!" (Maybe it's 12:45 and he is wasting his time talking to the old man and he's late to pick her up at the airport!! LOL haha.. just joking) They have been apart too long, but he really loves her, and can't let her go, he just tells her that it takes more that a hundred man or more to drag him away from her, he is sad of being apart from his love, but he is happy of staying in Africa "I bless the rains down in Africa". While they're reunited, they try to "catch up" and make up for the lost time, so he knows that it's gonna take sometime to do the things they never ever had. The rest of the song is the description of the things happening around him that night (the wild dogs and the Kilimanajaro) and the thoughts in the boys head; He knows that he must do what's right about his long depparted love, maybe let her go? maybe find someone else? maybe leave Africa with her? .. (who knows what's right anyway?), also thinking about a way of curing many negative feeling inside him after she went (maybe he found out he is really a jealous, or insecure boy, or even maybe a cheater) To me this is the logic explanation of the lyrics and I hope anyone agrees with me. Who hasn't had a girlfriend away and longed for her returnal, and hoping to make up for the time they hadn't shared? Please stop talking about racism or slavery..!!! |

| Actually the strength in the lyrics gives you some courage to "tell her about it", and so I did it... it didn`t actually worked, (She didn´t loved me) but it just cleared my doubts, and so I sawthe reality and had an excuse for moving on.. It´s better to know the truth, and not living your life in doubt (Be a real man, and tell her! the worst thing taht can happen is that you'll end up just like you are right now (without her)) | |
