Florence + the Machine – Heavy in Your Arms Lyrics 13 years ago
Lyrically, I believe the woman in this song is giving EVERYTHING she has to a relationship with whom their heart's is not in it. This triggers emotional disappointment and sadness. She got "played", pure and simple. Love the lyric:

This will be my last confession
"I love you" never felt like any blessing
Whisper it like it's a secret
Uttered to condemn the one who hears it
With a heavy heart

Pretty damn powerful lyrics, and the music is equally powerful - epic-like, as if going into battle (love IS a battlefield, ya know!...lol).

I do get a bit puzzled in the last verse, as it seems they can mean different things - does she meet someone new who respects her and her love? Could she just be , pining/wishing for a new love? Could she turning to God for faith in time of despair? I'd like to think she met someone who gives her the "lift" she needs.

Adele – One and Only Lyrics 14 years ago
Wow, only one comment! Just got this gem off of iTunes the other night. I've knew of Adele, just didn't follow through with hearing her first album. Anyway, was loving every song and this came on, and I was like "wow", I was blown away. Her voice, tone, delivery spot-on and strong. Love, love, love the interlude w/ the choir. Her band is tight too.

It is a simple love song, but written from someone who has been burnt many times before. When you start falling for the person, you start to freak out and try to resist those feelings to protect yourself from potentially getting hurt again. Start to question if they feel the same way about you, will they be there through the good/bad/inperfections of self, and then finally giving in and taking a chance on love.

She is a refresing breath of air in music today compared to the drek on radio.

Peter Gabriel – Love To Be Loved Lyrics 15 years ago
Recently did some spring cleaning, and came across this CD which I remember how much I liked back then,
especially this particular song. This is one of my faves from Peter, and resonates deeply for me, since going
through a very difficult divorce, this song really speaks to me. I love the keys, bass, and percussion on
this song. Major props to the musicians on this album, there is some serious talent on it.
This song is about depression, lonliness, fear, loss, longing. What I am uncertain is if he's letting go i.e.,
giving up completely, or that he has hope that he will find love and happiness someday. The line "this
time I believe" is where I'm misled. I'd like to think on the positive.

The Cure – Cut Lyrics 16 years ago
Agree with Salmon, I think Wish is very underrated. Not to take anything away from Disintegration, but there is such a wide variety on this CD, but I think this is one of my faves. This song can be about friendships and relationships. This hits home with me as I am going through a painful and bitter divorce, and the "pulling" he's referring to I've definitely experienced. This song is on constantly in my car. Love it..
Getting back to the variety on this CD, after this very song, there is the beautiful "To Wish Impossible Things", which is OUTSTANDING. Yeah, this CD is in my top three Cure CDs.

Led Zeppelin – Fool in the Rain Lyrics 17 years ago
I love Zep, but this is my least favorite song. Plant's vocal give me a headache with his constant ewwwwwww's. A little to poppy and cute for a Zep song. I'd like to forget they ever done this recording.

The Cure – Plainsong Lyrics 18 years ago
Pfsal has it right - one absolutely wonderful intro to this classic CD. It's like a wonderland of sound. The chimes, the guitars, keyboards are just insane. And the underlying guitar throughout sounds SO melancholy. When I hear the intro, I actually visualize the gates of heaven opening up. With the lyrical content to this song, it's like the last breaths of his lover dying, and making their way into the pearly gates. Wonderful texture both lyrically and musically. For the lyrics, totally agree with Edge of the World's comments. Very well put.

The Cure – To Wish Impossible Things Lyrics 18 years ago
this song is heartwrenching, and the strings put it over the top. It's absolutely beautiful, one of my favorite cure songs. I love the gong in the background too!! It's just enough to invoke the turmoil/sadness he's feeling. Brings tears to my eyes. Sometimes I feel this song might not be about a break up or a let down, but rather reflecting on a happier time in life, maybe in childhood - the realization that the innocence and belief that once existed, is no longer as one gets older and more cynical. I hope I'm making sense! Thoughts?
