Treaty Of Paris – Hello Nurse Lyrics 18 years ago
Great song. Incorrect lyrics, though.

"When all hits me" and "When all you speak" should both be "When our lips meet".

Treaty Of Paris – Rollerskates Lyrics 18 years ago
I saw these guys in concert just last weekend with Jack's Mannequin. They're really something! Very good live, and I absolutely love this song.

Only, yeah... the lyrics are a bit messed up.

It's:
"I hope these words connect
Like a swift kick to the head"

Jack's Mannequin – Last Straw Lyrics 18 years ago
So, up until recently, this was just one of those songs that, yeah, I liked it, I'd sing along to it, but I never really bothered to find a meaning to it. My sister and I were listening to it in the car on a roadtrip the other weekend, though, and wow, I'm definitely in love with it now after we discussed it for about an hour.

The JFK reference is what ties it all together. JFK was known for being a bit of a... wanderer, when it came to women. He cheated on Jackie so many times, and yet Jackie never left his side-- she remained loyal to him, despite the fact that it probably killed her that her husband wasn't satisfied with just her.

I think, while this song is about a guy reminiscing about the love that left him because he couldn't settle down with just her, it's also about suicide. Even though he was messing around with other people, he loved her dearly, but she wasn't about to be with him if he couldn't be happy with -just her-. So she broke it off with him, and it's killing him.

"And I tried my best to fight the atmosphere
To think the happy thoughts
That leave the phone lines clear
I see Arizona stars from here
But Peter Pan is miles away"

That's where the whole "suicide" thing comes in to play. I think he's trying so hard to get past it all, to keep his thoughts positive now that she's really out of his life, but he simply can't do it. Often times, before someone attempts suicide, they'll call up the ones they love before they do so, as a sort of last resort. He's trying to change the atmosphere around him, the horrible atmosphere he's stuck in now that his girl has left him. He doesn't want to have to pick up the phone, he wants to keep his thoughts happy-- but Peter Pan, his happy thoughts, [the girl,] are miles away.

But, anyway. The lyrics should be fixed just a bit. Because "This is the last straw" is not the only thing "she" said. It should be--

"This is the last straw" she said
"And I won't wait for you forever
While you run around like JFK
You watched that poor girl
Waste the best years of her life
And I'll be damned if I am going out
I will not go out that way"

:]
