I love the version on Unplugged, very haunting, I think when its so long since you were truly happy its hard too remember the feeling, or how to be happy again, some people show their emotions in different ways, Kurt always maintained that songs with I, Me, We weren't necessarily about him. |

I love this song particularly the 'just because your paranoid dosen't mean they're not after you' lyric, and the music, these songs aren't about, who's the coolest or the biggest nirvana fan, I think al lthese songs should have a personal meaning, some of the songs make the hair on the back of my neck tingle, and it wouldnt be the first time I've shed a tear because the songs have a personal meaning to me, I'm not cool I've done all that I'm a 35 year old career girl with a house n husband to look after but I can still appreciate kurt and Nirvana as I have for many year's, I never 'grew out of it' just relax and enjoy!, life's too short. |

Take people as you find them, I have noticed on this discussion there are a lot of references to the murder theory, I dont know whether he was or not, and we will probably never know, I kinda wonder that if the evidence was really that overwhelming that something would have been done by now. As for Courtney I have no real opinions on her but he did marry her so he loved her at some point , what I do object to is the scathing attacks on her, lets not forget she is the mother of Kurts child and we really should respect Francis's feelings by not completely ripping her mother to shread's, at every opportunity, 'the truth will prevail'. |

Although this song is no longer my favorite nirvana song it was the one that 'got me into them', I was lucky enough to see them at the Reading Festival in 1991 when I was 19,(Im an old burd now). I am still a massive nirvana fan and have recently been reading Jeff Burlingame's 'Oh well whatever nevermind' book, according to it teen spirit was ' a reference to Tobi Vail, her friend Kathleen Hannah had once written, Kurt Smell's like teen spirit on the wall of Kurt's Olympia apartment, refering to the brand of deodorant that Vail wore, saying that Cobain smelled like Vail, he apparently at the time did not know that teen spirit was a deodorant. |

I dont think Scrabble is completely correct here, when you OD on heroin your muscles can contract and spasm, something to do with the brain function, so it could appear like you are having a fit, it's an involuntary movement. Im also just wondering if 'beat me outa me' could be a reference to tapping the vein to get it to come up. |

Come on over and do the twist- I think this IS a reference to injecting heroin, the tourniquet you put above the injection site to bring the veins up, most users twist and pull it to secure it, say a belt a lace or something they tend to pull it with the mouth and it will twist when tightening. |

I think this could mean anything and it may be, about someone or something else controling you, drugs, spouse, society. For those of you who have never used drugs I suggest you read the poem miss heroin, I think it evolved in the penal system, it gives a good insight into addiction, which Kurt most certainly knew about |
