The Dillinger Escape Plan – Setting Fire To Sleeping Giants Lyrics 16 years ago
Looking at the song more generally, I think that it is also talking about how people can be two-faced, the first two verses create a situation of people meeting, but the part about riding high but it feeling so wrong says that there are definitely more intentions underlying than just having fun. The stranger's candy part is definitely charm and making it seem that a person is nice, but the rest of the lyrics reveal the real intentions of the other person. And yes, this could be applied to many situations, like all the aforementioned kidnapping and rape.

Haste the Day – Eremus Lyrics 17 years ago
Actually Eremus has to do with desert and hermitage, depending on context. but retreat would do just as well in this situation I think "Eremus" serves as a lighter period of reflection in the album. After the themes dealt with and their culmination in Akeldema, Eremus serves as a retreat or a hermitage (which might as well be in the desert) to reflect. Then when reflection is over redemption comes with "Chorus of Angels".

Muse – The Groove Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song can be interpreted with some very interesting undertones and references to politics."Rape and pillage proves/To win the public vote" is a comparison of modern democratic politics to the philosophy of old supreme leaders like Genghis Khan in taking over cities; a pretty bold statement. Then "Delta comes again/And her masks are shifting like a chameleon/Someone tell me why she breaks my fall/"And then breaks my heart" I like this verse a lot: Delta, from a math standpoint, is change which is the reason for the chameleon reference. "Breaks my fall/breaks my heart" could be talking about a politician or policy that promises much for the people but ends up never being effective and letting society down. "The Groove" could be the whole political system, which from the view in this song, is confusing and hard to get to work for the people.

Protest the Hero – Goddess Bound Lyrics 17 years ago
I think the first part talks about breaking conventions and the changing of society. then it also deals with death, putting forth a picture of rotting flesh in death and asking the listeners if there is an afterlife ("We hope that life exists beyond our lonely bones in the pine box") . I think that the last part talks about hypocrisy and repenting for something and going back to it; the band then spells doom by depicting the last moments of such a person ("those who clasp their chests are lives as yet unfinished as they gasp their final breath.")

Protest the Hero – Wretch Lyrics 17 years ago
If anyone is wondering about the cat's meowing, I read a review that said that it is in the recording by chance: Rody was holding the studio cat and it just so happened that at the end of the drum riff it meows (amazing that it is on tempo) and the band decided to let that awesome mistake stay on the recording. I think it gives it a nice contrasting musical touch.

Muse – Can't Take My Eyes Off You (Frankie Valli cover) Lyrics 18 years ago
OH YES!!!, those were the words that came out of my mouth the first time I heard this, not only is the intro and verse mellow, happy, and "muse-ifyied" to perfection, but the chorus takes the song to a whole new level that only Matt Bellamy could pull off. Great cover of an already great song
