SelectHickory, you are totally wrong. Houses of the Holy was released on March 28th 1973. Carmen Jane Plant was born on November 21st 1968. That would make her 4 years old by the time the album was released. And seeing as how the album was released just 5 months after her 4th birthday it's entirely possible that The Ocean was written while she was 3. So gneh and may the Hammer of the Gods strike you down for speaking such blasphomies about the greatest Rock & Roll band of all-time. I agree with necrophage. Like Bob Dylan once said about today's music industry...too many times people are worried about being perfect instead of worrying about being great. The imperfect parts on the recordings just add an element of human nature that comes through. Like the squeek on Bonham's drum kit. They were just so very much into jammin and making great music that a little squeek or telephone ring doesn't matter to them. And us fans can pick up on the heart and soul they put into the music. Personally this is my all-time favorite song ever made. Jimmy Page came up with an incredible riff, Robert Plant is at the top of his game before his voice sadly started to fade and the harmonies he laid down on this track are incredible to go along with his lovely lyrics, Bonham as usual gives a thunderous beat with tiny intriquite details that sets him apart from many other drummers, and JPJ keeps it all together with his bass mirroring Page's riff. OHHHHHHH SOOOOO GOOD!!! |
