I guess we are both in left field then, because that is exactly what I got out of this song. I love the dichotomy between the first and last two verses. As you mentioned, the first two are argumentative, while the last two...she is almost pleading with someone. Fantastic. |

I liked your comment...except for the fact that the only boxer mentioned besides Cassius Clay is Sonny Liston. Those two are boxers. Glenn Tipton was a guitarist for Judas Priest who took over after K.K. Downing. Jim Nabors and Bobby Vinton were both actors/singers in the 60s and 70s...Nabors is most famous for portraying Gomer Pyle in the Andy Griffith Show....anyway. I just wanted to clear up that the names at the beginning of the song aren't all boxers, rather it is a list...three separate comparisons and examples of how things change, like it or not... |

So I just heard this song a few hours ago on the Acoustic Cafe' radio show. Annnnd loved it. It seems to me that acoustic guitar was bred for regret and self loathing. If a song can make you stop and listen to the lyrics and appreciate the emotion found there, then the artist has done his job. Bravo. |
