I believe the quote by Lord Acton is a great way to describe this song: "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." Basically, the song is sung from some one who is not in power, therefore, he has the best of intentions if he were given that authority - he'd save the wales, and create peace on earth. Unfortunately, when someone DOES have that power, they don't waste their time helping the greater good or doing those things they promise. I believe the song is quite a satire on Political races. The canidates will say what everone wants to hear, but never actually do those things, had they the power. |

No, it's defiantly about school shootings. “Yeah sure I might do harm and bear my right to arm” Retribution” Kid’s got a gun, and it’s payback time “If only someone would listen to me” This is the usual story about how everyone saw the signs of an angry/put-out kid, but did nothing. So it’s not the shooter’s fault (in his mind), it’s the fact that no one took the time to notice his plight. |

This song, to me, screams War in Iraq/Bush. It's about people not recognizing what the troops are doing over there - which, to Brett, is murder. "Bad ape you made a mistake Annihiliation in a cannibal-war" - ape made the mistake of invading a country without real proof of anything, and so what does he do when he realizes this mistake? annihilate the people there. "if you had called that fucker by it's name" - it's name is murder. "if you had called that fucker by it's name" if it was recognized as murder, Ape/ man, would realize what he is doing is ultimately wrong. |
