Badmotorfinger08, im not too sure if rise against is as much telling "STFU to emo people" thats kinda ignorant in you, because it says that you dont understand that some peoples lifes are really fucked up. Sure, alot of people out there make big deals about shit most people would think wasnt a big deal, but thats not the purpose of the song. In my personal opinion i think this is about drastic changes in some people's lives that may lead to a desire or action of suicide Hey you, see me, pictures crazy, All the world I've seen before me passing by, I've got, nothing, to gain, to lose, All the world I've seen before me passing by - "hey you... crazy" could refer to a change in appearance caused by stress -ive got nothing... lose" most likely just means that hes lost all hope, he has nothing he can do, nothing to lose already -"all the world..." would mean that everythings just passing by, nobody stops and cares about whats wrong in his life. You don't care about how I feel, I don't feel it anymore, -this could be change in feelings because of the problems. because nobody will let him open up to them he thinks they dont care about how he feels, but then he says he doesnt care that they dont care but because its repeated several times it means that he is lying to himself to try to feel better. Once again... i Don't understand why everyone interprets Serj's songs as Bush hating. As sonic said (one of the first comments) this song is about the little known of ARMENIAN GENOCIDE. How do I know? because i AM of armenian descent. If you don't believe me take a look at the movies Screamers (2006), a movie where Serj's GRANDFATHER was interviewed on his experience with the genocide, as well as several other survivors. Also look up "Armenian Genocide Serj Tankian" in google and you will see that he has MARCHED in DC for recognition of those who died.. |

Actually all of you are incorrect. What people fail to realize is that you can only write so many songs about Bush and that this song was a strong call out for the signing of the bill to recognize the Armenian Genocide. Being an Armenian-American like serj, i have heard many stories about it from my relatives who's fathers and mothers were survivors. 1915- Soviet union had control over the country now know as Armenia. Armenians fled to countries such as Lebanon and Turkey to get away from the communism. Turkey didn't want Armenians in their population, so they conducted a brutal genocide of over 1.5 million armenians. Maybe we believe, She was ready to go, In the morning light, Maybe you believe, That she was made of gold, In the East where you killed her... -Turkey is east of Armenia -Many people were beheaded (made of gold, gold would flow out, basicly just saying that they thought they had justified reasons to kill the armenians) You lead us, When you need to feed us, You comfortable delete us, When you need your fetus... -Turkish troops led large groups of Armenians into the wilderness telling them they were going to go somewhere. They stranded them while they starved, killing them. The Ottoman Turks even cut open pregnant women and pulled the baby out... hence "When you need your fetus". You cheat us when you feed us with the lie, Stars look out and, Cheat us when you feed us with the lie, Stars look out.... -They fed them with the lie of going somewhere, the wilderness has stars looking out. But i think faces of the dead might have been the blood shatter, and "she" may have been a witness to the brutality that was done upon her family. | The Album is called Phobia guys, so arent most, if not all, the songs supposed to have a meaning of fear behind them? What i see it as is the fear of being forgotten, not being remembered after death, or even during life. It says "Show me what its like, to see in black and white, so i can leave this world tonight," which in my opinion means he wants to see things how everyone else wants things to be seen so that he can be accepted and not forgotten. | |

This song, to me, relates to one of my best friends ever that was a girl. A little less than a year ago, when summer hit, my best friend who was a girl and I were separated, unnoticed by either of us. When school came back around, things just weren't the same, she wouldn't come to me with problems and I just had less of them, or I'd goto someone else. But the point was, she feels I'm a complete different person, a bad person. But I'm really not, sure I'm a little more popular than before, but this is how it was last year for me too, my personality blossomed and therefor I made more friends. But the thing is she believes that I 'm "Too popular to talk to her anymore" and thats not true at all and I didn't want it to be like this. | To me, this song reminds me of my x-best friend. He was my best friend forever until recently and i just don't understand what happened and to be honest, i hadn't known anything HAD happened at all. Many times this friend has done stuff that has really hurt me, backstabbing stuff, but he was horrified when he realized what he has done, and every time i have forgiven him. I guess I could say he has been my worst, and at the same time, the best friend that I've ever had. Sure, hes screwed me over ALOT, but hes also always been there for me. And recently I guess I realized that we just weren't best friends. Not completely sure what happened. But if this is the version with brothers (instead of lovers) then thats what it means to me. | |
