Switchfoot – Awakening Lyrics 18 years ago
jon of switchfoot on 'awakening':

Awakening. How quickly I am lulled back to sleep! How quickly I forget. In one of my favorite Wilco songs Jeff Tweedy sings, "You know I would die if I could come back new." Perhaps to be truly reborn death is not optional. Here's a firsthand story about new life, it always starts at the bottom.

Moses Mayfield – Fall Behind Lyrics 18 years ago
after listening to the words way too many times, this is what i figured on the lyrics. pretty much an echo of what 'thisholidaystacee' said with some small differences...

"Death illuminates the lines we live within."

"Do you? Do you feel these holes in your life?"

"Maybe slit my wrists, And let love wrap itself around my fingertips."

this last one's a bit trickier because i can't be completely sure he even officially intended to add a word between "my wrists..." and "...let love"---if he did, however, the version of this song from 'the live EP' sounds much more like "And".........between "Or" and "And"........."AND" makes more sense.

they may seem like really picky stuff, but the difference in 1 or 2 words can change the meaning of a song. i.e.--"Or" is a choice. "And" is a follow up.

i now i didn't comment on meaning, but it's easy to get the wrong meaning with the wrong words.
