Megadeth – Something I'm Not Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is about Lars, specifically I read somewhere it was inspired by Metallica using the video of him for Some Kind Of Monster despite him telling them no, and that he came accross bad(I have had no interest in anything metallica's done since they put out that worthless corporate album garbage days or whatever it was called, once again making money off other people's talent's. I guess that's what they're good at)because he was stuck in san francisco for his birthday making that video because it was 2 days after september 11th and he couldn't fly back to pheonix to see his family and get his new car for his birthday, and then they asked his approval and he said no but they went ahead and used the video anyway. Would you forgive that coked up little weasel? Dave has been fucked over by that no-talent repetitive drummer one too many times, I guess. Seriously, Metallica's music hasn't been all that great since Cliff died, hell most of it isn't even worth listening to. Metallica's whole early success was due to the lingering music Dave left behind(hell for those of you who play guitar play Call of Ktulu and then Hangar 18, same damn chords in the same order and my guess is that kind of creative chording isn't something within the un-original playing style Kirk has the ability to create)

Thrice – Blood Clots And Black Holes Lyrics 18 years ago
The way I see this song is a political statement. Perhaps this may seem a little base for the depth that thrice has in their songs but it seems to me that this is a criticism of how governments use human nature to control the publics opinion. Specifically it's refering to the war on terror and the way it's been used to encroach upon the rights of american citizens. The "here's your new drug' refers to the blind patriotism that being at war creates(such as in 1984) and how it's used as a tool to control people and anyone who disagrees is automatically un-patriotic. The specifics of the war on terror I see in the line "A severed head as sedative" and how the violent acts perpotrated by terrorists (such as cutting off the heads of individuals) were used as a temporary sedative to try to act upon the emotions of the people and make them say 'To be at peace would be a sin, and surely un-American" which I take in this song to be a sarcastic poke at George Bush's stance that you're either with us or against us. And to some who might think this is just my political viewpoint bleeding into my interpretation of a song, it's not because frankly I am one of the defiant few left who has faith in the war effort and thinks it's a necessary evil, regardless of whether our initial reasons for being there are right. Well, I'll stop here before I go on a tangential rant.
