me and my boyfriend dropped acid recently and the day after it still was in his system and he decided that Bees was a song he had never understood or gave time to understand. Once he started listening to it he told me it was obvious that the song was about love, how it swarms like the bees. |

I think this is one about drug use for Elliot. I'm always suspicious that whenever he mentions "her" it's short for heroine. This "true love" had to die so he could burn the bridge and get healthy. When you have an addiction like this it lives with you everyday you have it and he had it for years, Why wouldn't he write songs about it? The obscurity just allows it to fit nicely with so many interpretations such as the song being about a lover, who you could just as easily be addicted to. |

The line that a lot of people are pinning down as to making this whole song about drugs
"And be forever with my poison arms around you.."
True it is refering to his shot-up arms but that is symbol for the general pain of drug use he went through. And he embracing his music with them because it's been such a source of inspiration.
"no one's gonna fool around with us.."
no ones going to control his creative license. I could be wrong, the lyrics are purposefully obscure. |
