| I dont believe he actually meant it was about global warming. There might be an allusion to it but it cant be the basis of the song. Im sure he was just screwing around, he is Isaac Brock. | |

I agree with scappaflow its not the singer's relationship, he's singing about a girl who rejected him. Thats why he says you took a left off last laugh lane, like you were going to get the last laugh but you landed in a rut and now im better off. I think when he says you just sounded it out, your not coming back again means that if she tries to get back to him he wont let her. I just wanted to add that the bit about clinging to not getting sentimental, said she wasn't going but she went still means that she always said she would never settle down and get into a deeper relationship but she ended up doing it anyway and now hes better off. |

| Modest Mouse – Dashboard Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Its pretty obvious that it somehow reflects the theme of float on, but i think theres a new level to dashboard in that the view of optimism is more developed. Float on was pretty much about taking life more lightheartedly, just to ease past the bad times; In dashboard it seems like brock is not suggesting that we blow off the bad times but to appreciate everything good that came out of the experience. I think brock is really reshaping his views and its good after all the shit he went through (according to wikipedia). There not sellouts they just changed. people only appreciate music that has a deeper depressing meaning because it means the band is boozed and drugged up and thus fascinating. No one likes a happy song cause they immediately think its falloutboy or those crappy bands. Give brock some time, he still has plenty of fucked up bizarre views of life that will entertain you regardless of whether hes drunk or not. By the way i think spitting venom is genius, give the album a second round before blowing it off. |

| Editors – Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i think this is about starting over. pull the blindfold down and run as fast as you can, say goodbye to everyone you know you will never see them again. I think as in the video the song is about people who constantly feel the need to start over, but even when they have the same problems turn up and they end up running their whole lives, like the little girl. The irony of smokers outside the hospital doors is similar to that of someone who runs away (goes to the hospital) to then recreate his old problems (start smoking again). Thats why he keeps saying can we start this again? I dont know to me it seems like it fits in the most with the video and the lyrics, and i hate relating everything to a heartbreak, its so boring | |
| Rooney – I'm A Terrible Person Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think its a pretty obvious meaning. what i like about it most is "its gonna be a bad day come sunday", which i think means when he goes to church sunday and has to confess his "sins" | |
| Modest Mouse – Heart Cooks Brain Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I think Brock is trying to emphasize the reptition of this dilemma of heart vs brain, where the heart "cooks" the brain. In fact i think "we tore one down, and erected another there" conveys this constant battle, tearing down one problem and immediately "erecting" a new one... I think, like other people said, that hes in a moment where his emotions control his thoughts, he doesnt know or care where hes going because his heart is dragging him there without any rational explanation. Everytime he tries to clear his head and act rationally he literally "pushes" things out through his mouth but maybe what he himself says or hears just "refills" his thoughts... We've all been in that position and brock portrays it with godlike ability, never have i seen such randomness all connected by one single string as brock does so elegantly |
