I'm kind of thinking that given their live performance with all of its objects and this character who is "hollow" inside that what hipster said is probably applicable to the entire album. Listen to it all (and this song especially) with the capitalistic materialistic lying America theme (forked tongues) in mind. |

This one hits you after the singles are all done. Like most arcade fire songs its overly repetitive and emotionally simple, but that's their strength. This one is probably political from Butler (that was his stated aim in many interviews) but is general enough to be beautiful and lasting. The "not I" moment is one of their best. |
