Actually thebartender, it isn't specifically about pedophilia persay, but it is a story about an older guy who is in love, or infatuated with a younger girl whom he would never be able to be involved with. And like gweeps said above, this song was just released live last summer on the 06 Summer Tour, and there's a high possibility the lyrics were finalized at Dave's two night stop in Vegas earlier this spring. The release of their new album is early July 07, and The Idea of You most likely will make the cut with it's finished lyrics. |

This song is about Jane, Dave's younger sister. It's not about Anne, his sister who was murdered. Some think it is a tribute to Anne because there are few songs that actually are tributed to her. But the album "Remember Two Things" is actually a tribute to Anne. And this song, is dedicated specifically to Jane like those who said it before. Dave was having trouble writing some new material, and he referred to Jane for some help in which she told him to "Get your head out of your ass." This song is the result of Dave pulling his head out, and wrote a beautiful song in honor of his Sister Jane. |

I'm sorry T D Phoenix and honeygirl119, but you both are incorrect. I don't want to insult either of you, but I know a lot about the Dave Matthews Band and their music. This song is about the Native American's being pushed out of their respective lands and slain by whomever. All you have to do is watch "VH1 Storytellers" or even listen to the lyrics. It clearly expresses someones land being taken and people suffering for it. The music video has no correlation with the meaning of the song really. And Dave was born in and lived for some time in South Africa. |
