Meshuggah – Rational Gaze Lyrics 18 years ago
HCN is one the right track. This song is about a lot more than just media manipulation. Basically it's restating the old saying "The map is not the territory." What we perceive is only what we believe to be real. That doesn't make it real. Meshuggah seems influenced by the work of Philip K. Dick in this regard.

This song, like most things by Meshuggah, is awesome to lift weights to.

Underworld – Dirty Epic Lyrics 18 years ago
Like cyanogen said, it's about someone living their regular lives and somehow touching spitiual perfection, and not being able to deal with it- "I'm so dirty, and the light blinds my eyes." Sounds like the conversion experience of Apostle Paul. One of my favorite songs.

The Ohio Players – Love Rollercoaster Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is amazing and trounces the Chili Peppers version any day of the week. And anyone who believes that someone got killed in the background of the song probably believes in that ghost in "Three Men and a Baby" as well.

Love most certainly is a rollercoaster.

Immortal Technique – Land of the Gun Lyrics 18 years ago
Which is a great song in it's own right...if I'm not mistaken Metallica play it sometimes as they come onstage. I'm not so sure about this song. Immortal technique is one of my favorite rappers, but I feel he may have tweaked Morricone's original in a way that detracted from it's original brilliance. It sounds off.

The song sampled is "Ecstasy of Gold" by composer Ennio Morricone, from the soundtrack to "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly"

Weezer – Pink Triangle Lyrics 18 years ago
The meaning of this song is obvious. We guys are dumb in some ways. Most of us think that lesbians are just waiting for the right guy to come around and set them straight (no pun intended). I learned the hard way that this simply isn't true. Loving someone and knowing you'll never have them is the worst possible torture imaginable, and that's what this song is really about.

Madvillain – America's Most Blunted Lyrics 18 years ago
This is the best song about smoking weed that I've ever come across. Madvillain is Madlib and MF Doom, for those who don't know. Madlib's beat is ridiculous- he even samples minimalist composer Steve Reich's piece "Come Out" in the intro. Can you imagine 50 Cent sampling Philip Glass? I thought not. This is how rap is supposed to be done.

The Stone Roses – Shoot You Down Lyrics 18 years ago
When I was younger and still seeing the world through puberty-colored glasses, I thought this song was about sex. But now I realize it's about wanting to punch someone out. A very therapeutic song.

Preston School Of Industry – Caught in the Rain Lyrics 18 years ago
True Story- I was overseas once, and like the young fool I was thought that I could afford to go out to the pub every night and still have enough money to get home. The nearest ATM was in a town three miles away from the hostel where I was staying and it looked like rain, but I thought that if I hurried I could withdraw money and be on a train to London before it rained. Lo and behold, I was broke, and the biggest rainstorm ever proceeded to pound me all the way back to the hostel. When I got back I was the most pathetic thing you could imagine, a drenched American overseass with no idea how I was going to get back or pay the hostel for my stay.
This song will always remind me of that time.

This song makes me wonder if Ghost really quit weed... if so it's an amazing testimony to how creative people can be without it

Converge – No Heroes Lyrics 18 years ago
Many will take this song to be nihilistic, but I think it's just the opposite- realizing that hero worship and wishing you were someone else are the two biggest wastes of time ever created. It doesn't matter who you look up to or what ideals you hold- at the end of the day everyone's crap stinks and no human should have to stand in awe of anyone else.

The Pharcyde – Runnin' Lyrics 18 years ago
I cannot believe no one has commented on this song yet! It's from the Pharcyde, one of the greatest alternative rap groups of all time, with incomparable production by the late Jay Dilla (RIP). This song has a lot of personal meaning for me since it seems to be about learning to be a man and stand up for yourself even when no one else will- the Pharcyde have such balls rapping about being bullied in school, I only wish more rappers could get over their thug posturing and tell the truth.

"Fuck keeping it real, I'm keeping it me." -Redman
