This is about a man who is lost in spiritual fulfillment and direction. Phrase 1: He's trying to justify his life to himself (trying to comfort himself). Phrase 2: Under his own power and direction he tries, but get's stone-walled and keeps failing. Phrase 3: Somehow it's suggested to him (maybe an angel suggests) to look God for guidance, but he finds prayer isn't getting him anywhere; he still must try. Phrase 4: He's asking God (or this angel he's talking to) to take him to heaven for the reason his life is so empty and there's nobody on in life that will notice him. Phrase 5: The angel (it's an angel now that I think about it) that's gone away (or back to heaven), and left him alone with no way out. Phrase 6: He's talking to the angel and putting his faith and direction in the angel, and still it won't work. Phrase 7: He's learnt from this angel and explains it out; you could get manipulated if you're guided by angels and not God. Phrase 8: After the angel is gone (a cool experience no doubt) he slides back into the world he justifies from the first line of the song. I think in this song he recognizes he's not getting to heaven in the way things are going in his life. He wants to, and I think his prayer is to put him where he's not alone. * Sounds to me like he needs a friend* |

It's about emotional relationships in life. When life gets hard a compassionate love will keep people soft @ heart and emotionally stable. It's probably meant as emotional advice for us to take care of each other. Husbands be there for your wives and kids emotionally. Women, use this advice with your friends and family. |
