| Can't believe that no one has commented on this! I saw this band live in Atlanta during their tour with Black Label Society and have liked them since. When they opened up with this song, they had the crowd's heads banging. When Clutch came on afterward (and I'm a good fan of Clutch, btw), they totally killed the mood 2cents had put on the crowd! Love this song, it's very catchy. Hope to see more of these guys in the future. | |

So not only has the name of the song been spelled incorrectly, but some of the lyrics are incorrect as well. Either way, the lyrics end up still meaning the same thing. And why has no one commented on this song yet?!?! But anyway, I think the meaning is simple. The term "In venere veritas" is a term that Ville Valo took from the latin phrase "In Vino Veritas" - Which translates to "In wine there is truth." But because of Ville Valo's play on words, his version actually means "In sexual desire there is truth." So in conclusion, I'd say this is just a classic HIM song about sleeping/being with someone you don't love (or just a COMPLETELY wrong relationship)and ending up getting hurt in the end. Another indication of this is the first lines of the song which should be, Zipping cupid in a body bag well worn, - (meaning: basically love is dead/gone or doesn't exist) Next to the mausoleum he was born in, - (meaning: was done from the beginning) Picking up the pieces of this gory glory of it all, - (meaning: getting over it all) from eve to mourn, (meaning: day after day) Maybe i'm wrong I don't know, but this is just my opinion of it all. :) Hope that helps! :D |

Personally, I don't think it's a song about sex. I think the general meaning of this song is the fact that people love to be in love. And the fact that we don't want to end up alone - and that we're willing to be miserable just to guarantee that. Hence the lines, We are like the living dead Sacrificing all we have For a frozen heart and a soul on fire (meaning we're willing to give everything just so we don't end up alone even though we aren't in love with this person) |

I can't believe there's only three comments on this song! I love it! Although I was expecting something a little more rockin' from HIM - I can't say i'm not satisfied by this awesome song. I like the sound they have to it. It's clearly a HIM original. lol And I must add, I am ecstatic about finding out how the CD will sound as a whole! I just wish they'd give the US an official release date for it so I can make sure I get it THAT day! @pandoravalo777 - I think your interpretation was on spot! Exactly what I thought too! |
