Just something that crossed my mind. Elliot smith had "become a silent movie. the hero killed the clown. cant make a sound" in one of his better songs. This actually sounds a bit similar. I think that it relates to depression. Hibernating, waiting for the ice to melt away, being in a suspensed state of feeling "under the ground". its about the isolation feeling you get when youre in the real kind of depression, the one that catches you and you cannot escape. the feeling that everything and everyone is a fake. a shadow of their real apperance. that nothing is really out there. the "Animal shadows" and the spotlites can be assimilated to Plato's Cave tale, also connecting with the unbearable truth that you cannot shake off. (sorry for the bad english. I'm from israel, and therefore not a native speaker..) |
