| Yes it's about all consuming passion. I love this song...it's fantastic and has a real sort of spy-vibe to it that I can't really explain...catchy as hell too. | |
| Moving Mountains – Alastika Lyrics | 13 years ago |

I feel this song is speaking of defying the natural order ("fate" if you will) of things, seemingly in this song a relationship that perhaps fate ("the clouds exclaimed") has already deemed as unsalvageble, and yet we fight against that outcome...we "run away" from the voice and resist the obvious conclusion. Very powerful song. |

| As Cities Burn – Into the Sea Lyrics | 13 years ago |

Artist: As Cities Burn Song: Into the Sea [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAr1dbYU1Xo] I interpret this song a bit deeper than the usual copy/pasted Matthew 21:21 verse I see online on message boards....I see it rather as a total (sarcastic/poetic) rebuke of a person's complete moral ambiguity or weakness, of "letting things be" and then of letting them stay that way. A person without a sense virtue/principles, with no convictions to stand for this or that in particular is one to be tossed about with the winds of change as they come, like a rag doll, buffeted by the winds of nature and circumstance, all of which are given equal footing in the hearts of such a person, and so they are motivated by the singer to get it over with and to throw them self into the sea... Such a person has the tendency to blame others for their faults or the things they witness that they choose to not address. "Somebody put a bad lens in your eye" it's merely an excuse, a dismissal of choosing to avoid things which should not be seen in the first place, or to ignore virtuous actions that are needed when something morally degenerate is witnessed, but they are just ignored. The line about shedding your skin is one of my favorites in the song, this whole section reminds me of trying to avoid what you are (or what you could become if you did stand up) and so you try to "change yourself" - conform, but what happens is you lose more than the surface "skin", it's your very blood being shed. Your unwillingness to rise about the squalor of immorality and wicked precepts (or an out-right evil) is irreversible in the sense that a true loss of innocence occurs. "When you climb out, you can't climb back in" Now we don't need faith, hope, etc to live without principles, virtues and standards...we live according to our own devices, so "we don't need a mountain moved" -"we just want to move ourselves" "it's alright, it's alright", and it is, IF everything is the same, there is nothing holy, nothing evil, and so nothing good is really sensible in standing up for. If it's all relative, it's all ambiguous, and when it is revealed ultimately, it's never good enough, so it's always going to be a "failure in this light". Such a person never really moves, because a person who is so dead in virtue/principles, so brainwashed that everything is equal, are rendered completely ineffectual, they are little more than a corpse animated to life. You can't really change the world like that, for the better, for the next generation, the young that waits on the shore looking into the great expanse before them for some sign, some instruction. Instead of being an example, an inspiration towards them; the world and it's pressures simply reduce you into sand, nothing more influential to the children waiting on the shore, then sands in their hands, falling through fingers. Certainly not a boat to take them somewhere good... "Though we don’t ever see you move, slowly the wind turns you to sand in the hands of children on the shore". GREAT SONG. brettstrobridge.wordpress.com |

Here is the correct lyrics as far as I can tell, most taken from official site, although even some of that is missing some words he sings which I've included below: --------------------------------------- The Days...Passing Days... I see the steeple and Trace to the Spire And the sun set Deep in regret Phoenix in final fire And the time stops Rush hour traffic slows and my heart starts beating this dark through old Flesh and cold Bone And I long to be carried on just once to be lifted strong out of the loneliness and the emptiness of The Days of some days... Days, I remember... I had your love once Seized my body whole And in our first dance I thought by chance God had matched my soul But time bought its traveling its distance and solitude and in that traveling My self damaging I took my love Far Far from you But now don’t you still long to be carried on once more I could lift you strong Out of the loneliness And the emptiness Of The Days Passing days...passing days... Days... Tell me Have we gone too far Or did we get too close? You’ve no father, I’ve no son when we come-ghosts I promise, I will meet you I will meet you At the end of The Days...The Days. Pass some (or passing) days... Won't you meet me at the end of The Days? ------------------------------------------- |

| Lyrics are also tragically wrong/inaccurate in many places...if I could copy/paste the lyrics I would fix them, but since this site is stupid and doesn't let me do what 98% of websites do, I can't/won't fix them... | |

A beautiful song, a real classy one too...strings have a real old fashioned beauty to them that's hard to explain... Pretty self evident, longing for the better days, the better times with the person they love....GREAT SONG. |

| The Main Drag – Goodnight Technologist Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| BTW, I LOVE this album, and I love this song most of all on it, it's easily my favorite track. Such a powerful song and to me, it captures a general sense of loss, regret and the futility of struggling against fate....but perhaps I take too much out of the words vs. what is really there? | |

"You are the ever-living ghost of what once was" - what a great line... Beautiful and so sad, I'm living this song right now and it hits the nail on the head, and painfully so. |

| Phosphorescent – Wolves Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| The song is a powerful and beautiful song about INNER DEMONS, seems to be a losing fight and either represents an actual literal falling out with his mother, or at least a spiritual/character falling out with such values. That's my take on it. | |
| Brand New – The Archers Bows Have Broken Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
It's sad that many of you don't grasp the deep spiritual meaning of this song. Just some clarification and corrections... He says "beating everyone with a book, that book tells you TO love" This is because the Bible actually teaches to Love your neighbor AND enemies...and DO GOOD unto them...not condemn them to hell or alienate them...often Christians are guilty of doing this and this message is a powerful rebuke of such actions/beliefs. Many Christians believe in a God that will eternally torture His enemies anyways, so why should they be nice? (I don't believe that, but I'm in the severe minority for Christians who feel this way.) Also he says "my God WORKED on a campaign trail" because Christ actually did WORK and healed and brought hope to people, not just empty words..this is a powerful rebuke against those in power inside of religion who are full of words and don't FOLLOW the teachings of their 'God' who DID what He said! The 'daughters' ignore me line is brilliant, in REV daughters are used in reference to the "harlot" church...the daughters are the organized churches of popular religions across the world...obviously he's suffering condemnation for His beliefs and he's rebuking them in turn. finally the 'What did you learn tonight?' paragraph, and 'freezing over hell' is a rebuke against the fundementalist teachers who teach so much about Hell and have forgotten Gospel of Grace and Love which overshadows and overwhelms all in scripture. their love really IS "freezing" over hell. Brilliant! |

| Slowdive – Primal Lyrics | 18 years ago |

The lyrics are incomplete and wrong. This song isn't about racism when the lyrics are more understood, it's about a romance & the PRIMAL emotions involved, the actual lyrics (as closely as I can make them out) is as follows, please note how they actually FIT the front cover of the album...the girl "spinning in a wash of color") LYRICS: Today, I watch the colors fade watch the games we play and when it all falls down, Yeah Don't forget the days, when the sunshine fades here Remember what they say Remember what they say [Chorus] Two life-times she calls, today... everytime, she says she's falling, and everytime, I caught her spin. [Chorus] She calls...two life-times She calls, today everytime, she says she's falling, and everytime, I caught her spin. I can't believe, [???] Can't believe, this girl, I love this girl, I can't believe, this girl can't believe, can't believe. |
