Okay well, having your cake and eating it too means to pretty much have something both ways (like the opposite of saying "it's one or the other") and then if you're having people watch you as you have your cake and eat it too, that would be like flaunting it I guess. That happens to be my favorite line in the song :) And just the way she says it seems just a tad annoyed. So I think it fits. Even if I'm not sure how that would make it fit with the rest of the song. So maybe I'm wrong. |

| I'm going to stray a bit from the actual meaning of the song here and wonder for a moment about the whole "Mona becomes eclectic" thing. Anyone know anything about that? Nearly scared me out of my skin at the end of the song. | |

Well I'm not completely clear on the whole song, but the verses "I sit alone in my room I'm so damned depressed I reinact plays on the polo field I've never ridden a horse That's just the trouble with magazines I get so involved Recalling my days in north Africa I've never crossed the Atlantic, yea" Just really makes sense to me, how you can get so absorbed in the things that aren't real, stories and things like that, that it gets depressing to know that it's not actually real. |
