I think this song is about everyday life. Everything you do, your job , your house, your habits are all chains. You cant escape these things becuase you are obligated by these chains. Secret machines are an awesome band and remind me alot of Pink Floyd, and thats not bad. |

I was making a point which i backed up with valid facts. I also corrected the incorrect information that craigus provided so that people that done know any better dont actually think what hes saying is true. craigus, do u know what your talking about, you claim to be a fan yet dont even know what order their albums came in, Animals was the album before the Wall, not after AHM.

"wish you were hear"?? i wish you could hear how fucking dumb you sound. You are trying to convince me that the 3rd best selling album of all time is the worst concept album ever made? Are you fucking serious? The wall was largly autobiographical, it wasnt some fabricated bullshit that most other concept albums are. Roger waters never cared who like his music, even after they became popular PF never watered down their music so that they could sell more records. PF is the greatest band ever, and The Wall is the greatest concept album ever along with DSOM and Animals. |

I doubt your theory Animals...the reason i say this is because atom heart mother was an album that came about in a time when the band was trying to find themselves (it was shortly after the loss of syd barret, their lead man and primary creative drive). They were also experimenting with different styles. Each member of the band was responsible for coming up with a song. They did and atom heart mother was the result. There are 4 band members, hence 4 songs on the album. |

I really do think this song is about drugs. In the first verse i think he had just come down from a drug trip..."evenings empire has returned into sand" he has now returned to a normal state after a trip. "vanished from my hand" could mean he has no more drugs left and he is now looking for the tamborine man who is a reference for a drug dealer.
The next verse starts out "take me on a trip upon yourmagic sirling ship" which is pretty obvious what that means, he is going into another drug trip. He then talks about his hands cant feel and his toes are numb which are the effects of whatever drug he took. "cast your dancing spell away/i promise to go under it" is definitly him asking the tamborine man for drugs.
the rest of the song is just beautiful lyrics about his drug trip and the lonliness of taking drugs and being high. |

This song is just Jack's way of interpreting how technology now dominates everything that humans do and its negative consenquences. Humans are actually animals and are part of nature but we are destorying nature by building machines that do all the work for us. |

Does anyone else get a chill down there spine when the beat fades out and the guitar chills and he starts singing the verse "i dont cry when my dog runs away..."
Thats the best part of the song and i love this song cuz it got me hooked on sublime and i went out and get all there cds and 5 bootlegs.. |
