I think this song is about someone he knows who is younger, but he is falling for her physically and is afraid to fall for her emotionally. He doesn't want to be tied down by some little girl who isn't ready for the type of relationship he wants. But he also doesn't want her physically because, not only is she young, she is trouble, so he is trying to freak her out, but she is loving every minute of it. I love this song, it is a true portrayal of how someone can fall for someone that they know they shouldn't and they are trying to convince themself against it. |

dont look too far into it, I just look at the name. The song is about trusting in friendships and relationships. "mix the chemicals right dear, mix the chemicals right yeah the margin of error is slight" Hes saying be careful how your portray yourself, your friendships and the reliability people give you. Basically be careful not to come off untrustworthy, otherwise its over in the beginning. "there is a risk, there’s a risk when your dealing with love you could snap my neck " thats also proving when someone knows secrets about you and when they care for you, they also have something that potentially could hurt and blackmail you. "when this frame fails me will i trust you to carry me through i know there’s no such thing as safety but i know what a promise can do " Meaning if something were to happen would that person help him or hurt him when he is most vulnerable. He realizes there is no such way to predict what exactly would happen if he trusted that person. So he would just have to try. I love this song, there are so many metaphors, its amazing. |

To me this song is about a boy and a girl, who obviously loved each other, but like most relationships they moved on with their life and went different ways. Only the relationship status changed, not the feelings they had for each other. Maybe it is just a long distance relationship, i'm not sure. This song is amazing and I'm sure most people see it differently according to the way their love life is going. |
