before the release of all that you cant..... bono and edge were interviewed on irish radio by dave fanning who gets the preview on every album. bono said that it was from his perspective in his grave. he wants his friends and family to move on. its also the loss a child suffers (bono lost his mother at a young age). the notion that it was written for his dad is off the mark as the song was written before his dad got sick. it became dedicated to him after he got sick at a gig in boston. the real tribute to his dad is sometimes you cant make it on your own which was in existence before all that you cant... it didnt make that album but bono sang it (or some version of it) at his dads funeral. |
