I don't agree that the song is about simply finding your own path in life or thinking for yourself. I know that Brandon has been described as anti-religious, yet spiritual. That's the basis of this interpretation. "look, find, free" Buddha taught that one must find truth for themselves to become free. His teachings were an invitation to a personal experience in which one must find the four noble truths for themselves. It's the goal of awareness meditation to rise above intellectualism/thought and into the realm of consciousness/awareness. "From here on it's instinctual," As in, not seeking intellectual experience but rather living through pure experience. "Every piece contains a map of... it all it all Evidence in the march of the ant Pulse of the sea" These could be references to the connected "oneness" of all life in the universe, another goal of meditation is to experience and understand this truth. So to me, this song is about a spiritual experience of sorts. "Do you get it yet" could be an attempt to taunt/jab the listener to actually look past the song and into the meaning, which is how I came about it. Alternatively, it could be a self-taunt. Many times in Buddhist meditation, we intellectually understand great truths, but without experience, wisdom will never come about. In that respect this whole song could be directed towards himself, as a sort of mantra. "Do I get it yet?" I practice meditation, so this song stuck out to me. |

| Cake – Italian Leather Sofa Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I just want to put my opinion in. I think it's about a drug dealer and his girl. Because of the serrated edge part. It seems to REALLY imply cocaine usage (especially when they talk about putting it in a freezer) Just reiterating what's already been said. |

| I think the "my mom is a witch part" is about his mom being a pagan. But I think he put it in the song because it's a contrast to what he's singing about. He's singing about the fact that people don't live their lives to the fullest. Well, his mom is being her own person in this world and he likes the fact that she is living her own life. | |
| NOFX – The Man I Killed Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I was reading some poetry and I came across a poem called "The man he killed" by thomas hardy. I found some interesting parallels in structure and the rhyme scheme, although common, is quite similar. I just thought it was interesting how the two poems seem to flow well together! Here are the first four stanzas The man I killed ------------------- As they tightly strap me in, give me lethal injection I've just a few moments to live, I've no remorse for what I did It was for the benefit of man, I made the utmost sacrifice Before more damage could be done I took his life There was a split second of silence when the dart punctured the skin Beady eyes rolled back in head, the body dropped from the poison They could incapacitate me but could not erase my sneer I heard a thousand people screaming, I know three billion others cheered The man He killed ------------------------- Had he and I but met By some old ancient inn, We should have set us down to wet Right many a nipperkin! But ranged as infantry, And staring face to face, I shot at him as he at me, And killed him in his place. I shot him dead because-- Because he was my foe, Just so: my foe of course he was; That's clear enough; although He thought he'd 'list, perhaps, Off-hand like--just as I-- Was out of work--had sold his traps-- No other reason why. |

| Jimmy Eat World – Drugs Or Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This song , to me, is about how drug addiction can completely change a person. I know it changed me, and i remember honestly telling my friend "The meaning of life is drugs." You can't realize until something happens to intervene, but once you get hooked, it's so hard to think about your situation from other perspectives. I have been off them for 2 and a half months. This song really helps with closure |

| Linkin Park – What I've Done Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I would assume the song is about the end of days. so let mercy Come and wash away What i've done Come, today, this ends I'm forgiving What I've done These seem to be asking 'God' to wash away their sins and maybe start over again, for they know the human race has failed. I'm thinking this is kind of like asking for the extinction of mankind before it destroys more, upsetting the balance of the universe. I would have thought it were about his meth usage, if not for the video, actually. |
