This is SUCH a motivational song...basically she's telling you to take a chance and just gooooo! JUMP! "There’s only so much you can learn in one place, The more that I wait, the more time that I waste" is saying do not stay stagnant. Once you've reached saturation level in your current state, it's time to MOVE ON and learn more things...experience something different...keep jumping and you'll always land on your feet because "I can make it alone..." You're strong enough to take a chance and go for it. How motivating! And you know that's how she's lived her life to have reached such success. fame and fortune!! |

| In terms of meaning/interpretation, this is my favorite of Madonna's songs. I heard an interview w/ her when this song was originally released and she stated it's about a breakup...how the person you thought you knew so well during the relationship turns out to just be a beautiful stranger by the end. They look the same -- "beautiful" -- but you no longer *know* them by the time of the breakup -- "stranger." I relate to this song every time I go through a breakup, whether romantic or just friendship. People become such "strangers" when it's time to sever ties. | |
