Yeah personally I think that this is about someone who is compromising themselves to fit in somewhere. And ultimately leaving the ones that were there for the "real" them, high and dry. Then when they're up there, in with them, they turn on the person and see that he's been a fake all along. The the best thing he's ever had has gone away, originally the person who was there for him in the beginning. |

I think Gord Downie's songs are just so ridiculously hard to interpret. It's like he's making you feel them rather than understand them. Which I love. I love the tone. I think he's just throwing his own personal experiences into crazy metaphors that no one will understand anyways. "it's just us" I love that line. I also love how Gordie uses parts from his songs in other songs, like in Insomniacs Of The World, Goodnight and this one. And like... all of World Container. If I ask you a questionnnn are you gonna lie to meeee? |
