| I think that this song is about wanting someone that you once had, but cant have anymore. If you’ve been in a situation like this you know what I’m talking about. The guy in the song spends the day by just sitting their wishing that the person he has been thinking about all day would change their mind and come back to him. The music in the song (mostly the guitar) gives off a somber type tone, which indicates some sort of regret. Yet despite all this, the song is slightly up beat, which shows that he still has hope that he would change if she gave him a second chance, and that Stranger Things Have Happened than a girl coming back to a person. | |

To me, this song is about a high school or college relationship gone sour. the guy thought that he was the only one that this girl is seeing, but low and behold that is not the case. So one day the guy gets the traditional note from the girl, "we should be just friends, but i still love you and ill love you forever." Because he still has feelings for her, the guy is still her friend but he is purposely avoiding her to avoid the awkwardness of it all, yet the girl still finds him. In the spots where they used to speak, (class, the halls etc), she talks about her new boyfriend with little regard for the guy who she left behind, who is now screaming infidelities (screaming this girl is unfaithful) and is getting torn up by the whole situation. When the guy goes home or to his dorm or whatever (you get the idea) at night, and tries to sleep but he cant. he remembers all the times he shared with the girl who was unfaithful to him. So instead of sleep, he basks in his own self pity by listening to sad songs, wondering if she is truly happy with his new guy, and all the while wishing he had someone to call his own besides the bottle of alcohol. well that’s what i got out of it, my favorite song by DC |

| This song is simply amazing. It's about how someone though that they had finally found what they were looking for, the love of their life, but she left him anyway. Now he is heartborken, reflecting on how stong his love for this woman was before he tires to move on and let time heal his broken heart. | |

Wow, this thread is just people bashing eachother and their likes and appearent hatred for MCR, how sad. lol Anyways, I think that this song is about trying to get over someone who you cant have. Way says in the song "And the collision of your kiss that made it so hard" refering to the memories of the times he and this woman spent together. Yet he also says that this woman he was with was already married, so he cant have her. As a side note: for all of those who say that MCR is all for promoting suicide, you'd be wrong. The whole reason MCR writes their music is to show people who are going through a rough time that they will get over it in time, and their are better ways to get over the pain than mutliating, or even killing yourself. |

| Seeing that I'm the 130th or so person to put what they think the meaning of this song is, chances are this may never be read. lol Anyways, to me the whole first part of the album is about the ending of a relationship. From In Your Honor to DOA. In Your Honor is the whole "I’d do anything for you" last ditch effort to try and save the relationship. No Way Back is the, "there is no way we're getting back together" song, and DOA, the "I’m finally over you" song. As for The Best Of You, this song is the whole "wondering why he or she broke my previously broken heart. It starts out with the admission that he or she still has you wrapped around their finger, and that you would still do anything for if they asked. Then you ask them why they broke it off. Dave goes on to ask tons of questions as to why this happened, and the most frequently asked question is of course, "is someone getting the best of you?" To me this means "did you fall for someone else, are they now getting your love, the best things you have to offer? After all these questions he or she still will not answer you, hence the "confess!" part before the chorus kicks in again. To me this whole song is about getting the answer as to why this breakup had to happen. If anyone reads this please give me feed back this is my very first post. thanks | |
