alright. i was stuck on the freckle part at first.. but i think i've got it. i think "freckle freckle" is like a verb... he's talking about this girl... and presumably she's really pretty.. cuz she "puts my head in such a flurry"... but then i think the "freckle freckle" is kinda like... freckles are added to her face.. which is kind of a plain-jane look. "what makes you so special?" lol thats the best i could put it into words.. like i think its symbolic.... when u change one thing about a person they can lose their individuality and not be the same person to you anymore. soo it's kinda like a small, sarcastic slap in the face comment. |

i had time to think it over.. and not to sound stupid, but i still agree with myself. lol i'm a christian, and i don't see anything about god in this really... only if you force it. because, like most songs by any artist, it could fit. but this band gives constant reminders that they're not a christian band. i think that it's about a guy who gets in relationships with a gril who makes him do stuff he knows isnt good or wouldnt want to do. even though he's heard how bad it is. "i have heard that winter's cold" he knows she's taking him in the wrong direction "we'll give way to summer's warmth" he does what she wants anyway "oh no, like salt in the snow, I'm melted and left all alone" he's the salt, and that kinda symbolized him standing up for himself, but when he is "the salt" the snow (the girl) melts, and he's left alone. but he always comes back to her wanting to get off the road where he's alone "give me shelter from the storm, i know it's a lot to ask for considering how recently i've piled the dirt on your name" I took you for granted again, And drew you aside and pretended For one minute that I had control Of my life, and direction. It seemed to be in. I was wrong again. i think this is how.. he thought he could go without her so he got rid of her just to prove that she wasnt all he really lived for.. but then he realized that without her, he has nowhere to go. like i said. you could easily apply that to god, but you could do that with almost every song about a girl that doesn't use the word "she"... i don't think a band trying to break out of the christian mold would write a god song. but it's all in the eye of the beholder =D |

i completely agree with aimemariee. i can't really follow the dear hunter songs too well all the time, but i'm confident that this song isn't about ms leading reading the letters. the biggest hint for me is the word "vicarious" implying that the person reading it has nothing to do with the situation... this song is amazingly perfect. & i loveee the story of it. or what i think the story is anyway. ha |

i think it's kind of a mixture of what everyone's saying.. i think the first verse is just talking about being with someone for the first time and enjoying the excitement of it.. comparing it to the thrill of playing a show (or the verse could actually be about performing) then to me, in the second verse, it's about two people realizing that what they have is coming to an end. whether one of them is dying like other ppl think or maybe one of them just has to leave the other. idk though. the song's just phenomenal along with the rest of the cd ....except shrink the world. hm. eh well. ha |

uh blink44ava.. they've already made a videoo for everything's magic.. & they did release songs off their album... the adventure and do it for me now both had videos..a nd the war might have too. but ya.. i can't say i lovvve this song, but i hope it grows on me.. WDNTW is by far one of my favorite cds ever and i hope i-empire is just as good.. but this, secret crowds, and lifeline seems omewhat disapointing.. but hopefully they all grow on my like songs usually do & the other songs are even better. ha |
