| Tool – Jambi Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Does every goddamn 13 year old in the universe have to interpret every song as a drug addiction? Seriously, what the fucking jhell? | |
| TV on the Radio – DLZ Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| P.S. Radioheadfan, no offense on you. Offense all goes to CoySmilesExpose, who is a moron. | |
| TV on the Radio – DLZ Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Hey CoySmilesExposes, you're a fucking trick ass little bitch. Seriously. Who the FUCK honestly says "I'm a bigger fan that you" just because they were a big enough faggot to name yourself after lyrics of a song? Are you 13? It wouldn't surprise me. And for the asshole who is going to jump in like a tool and say "THIS IS SONG MEANINGS.NET I WONDER WHY NO ONE TALKS ABOUT SONGSMEANINGS", shut the fuck up before I slap the taste out of your mouth. CoySmilesExpose, I've met Tv on the Radio before, on the fucking street. Does that make me a bigger fan? The fact that I've talked to them? In your 13 year old girl brain it probably does, but no, it doesn't. Sorry people, this shit needs to be said so this little bitch doesn't end up sounding like more of an idiot because they are claiming they are the biggest fans of the newest band they just heard last week. The band? Radiohead. Yeah I know your type CoySmilesExpose. Straight tool. I don't care if you're a 40 year old, people like you ruin music for everyone else because you have no sense of identity, and therefore must shit on other people's day by acting like you know shit about shit. AND FOR FUCK'S SAKE, BANDS ARE ALLOWED TO USE WORDPLAY IN THE LINER NOTES. |

| TV on the Radio – Halfway Home Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Just like there is always five+ people who like to talk about how much they like the song, there always has to be at least one asshole who has to rain on everyone's parade in a totally unecessary, smartass way. Fortunately, the lyrics meister pandah462 was kind enough to fill the role of the asshole on this song. Thanks pandah! The much needed breath of halitosis and poorly executed douchebaggery has been established. He also filled the role of the person(s) who assume that every song in the existence of humanity is about a relationship between a singer and his girlfriend. On to the song meaning. Tunde said in concert that this song was about anyone who lost someone who they could never see again. Now I realize that there are a lot of indications that this might be about a woman, I do not necessarily think it's about anyone who's alive. I don't know about you, pandah, but I don't think a lot of people have any questions about whether or not they still have a relationship with someone who is dead. Haha just kiddin' pandah. Thanks for being you, you crazy, crazy thang. P.S. How did you learn to type? A panda on a computer? That's off the fucking chain. I bet you're all cute and cuddly, and endangered. Fuckass. |

| Nine Inch Nails – Demon Seed Lyrics | 17 years ago |
In The Great Destroyer the person is talking about how he hopes no one realizes his "limitless potential". I felt like that song was saying that the real destroyers of everything was humans, which basically is true. I kind of wonder if The Slip is about one of those good guys that tries to deal things peacefully during Year Zero, but in the end realizes the only thing he can do is resort to violence to solve problems. Otherwise he is going to get killed, because art really solves nothing. |
| Nine Inch Nails – 1,000,000 Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Dude, Tool is the one who hasn't released an album in almost 3 years, has no issue with ripping off their fans on ticket sales, and Maynard is one of the biggest assholes in all of rock, and a pretty irrelevant one at that. Trent Reznor on the other hand? He's pioneering for the future of the record industry, and is still making good music at that. |
| Nine Inch Nails – Corona Radiata Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is pretty damn eery... It adds to the creepiness at the end of the album. I wouldn't say I like this song, but I respect that it was made, unlike Viginti Tres from 10,000 Days. That was just fucking stupid. The way Lights in the Sky leads into this song is kind of disturbing, and I think this song is supposed to be the point where the "demon seed" is born, as Corona Radiata either references someone's brain or an ovum for another example... I'm pretty sure it's referencing the latter and not the former based on the circular pattern on the "floor" in the song. |
| Nine Inch Nails – 1,000,000 Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song fucking owns Stinkfist. Not to say the comparison isn't valid. From just analyzing the song itself and not really the deeper meaning, it really sounds like an all-star combination of all his major recurring themes. When I saw this and realized what all the blocks were in the singles, I just was blown away by this song. The music is exactly what it sounds like:Badass. Trent absolutely outdid himself with this song. For the real meaning, if this is the sequel to Year Zero(not saying it is or isn't) then I imagine Earth is very fucked after the presence caused havoc, and everyone is living in a Mad Max-esque environment. I've really noticed this album is about submitting to whatever is controlling you, and not fighting it anymore. Trent touched on this a lot in With Teeth but it's so prevalent in The Slip... |

| The Used – Sun Comes Up Lyrics | 18 years ago |
And for the record, I never said I was better than anyone, chemicalnirvana. I just have a better grip of reality than you do. You're fourteen years old. You're searching me out on myspace to tell me I'm a douchebag and that I'm insecure if I respond to you. Just think about that for two minutes. |
| The Used – Sun Comes Up Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| You stop telling me I'm a child when you're searching me out on myspace, and I'll start listening to you, clones. | |
| Queens of the Stone Age – Medication Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| That's funny, considering I was actually in support of what you were saying. | |
| The Used – Sun Comes Up Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I find it funny that a bunch of girls are ganging up on me because of how much they love the Used. What a disillusioned, pathetic state you are in. I have a personal stake in my dislike for crap like this music, but did it occur to you that I might be just someone who disses on this stuff for kicks? Don't you think I might find it HILARIOUS when a bunch of pmsing wenches go off because people they will never meet's credibility is in question? Do NOT go toe to toe with me, and spread your crap over to myspace, you miserable children. This is a public site, I would prefer for you to not bitch at me about your personal problems on any site, because I don't care about you, or whatever it is all you clones stand for these days. |
| Queens of the Stone Age – Tangled up in Plaid Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Just want to let Dressed2Depress know they are a fucking tard'. You can't spell gay without fags that say things like "Why do you think X song is about Y people? It's definitley about suicide." You know what? I'm sending you a message to personally tell you how much of a fuckmook you are. |
| Queens of the Stone Age – Broken Box Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Is it me or has every frontman for every band that road the bandwagon of the grunge fucked Courtney Love at some point? I can't believe anyone would write a song about that bitch anymore. If this song is about her I sincerely want to rethink about listening to this band. | |
| The Used – Sun Comes Up Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The Used are a bunch of fuckin' lame ass emo fucks. I hate how every emo band has to bitch about how much their rich-ass life sucks, and then they realize everyone else is doing it so they make a happy song. And then they realize every other emo band has followed suite. You're all stupid little clones, you faggots. |
| Mos Def – Fear Not of Man Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This is a truly great song. A completely awesome flip from the typical "let's bitch about authority and how it's bringing it down, and also how my life sucks!" raps. | |
| Queens of the Stone Age – Run, Pig, Run Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Forgotten way is a tool. And I mean that in the harshest way. I find it funny that the two songs he seems to positively review are Static-X and LIMP BIZKIT. Really. Are you serious? Are you FUCKING SERIOUS? YOU WHITE TRASH PIECE OF RETARD? |
| Dntel – Breakfast in Bed Lyrics | 18 years ago |
You're an idiot, and so is anyone who compares their life to this emo tripe. If your life is really that bad then go kill yourself and make room for the non-trash. |
| Katatonia – A Premonition Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| d00d. i tink tis sonfis about drugs lol! | |
| Queens of the Stone Age – Medication Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I swear this site breeds some of the biggest dumbasses I've ever had the misfortune of reading comments from. I'm pretty sure this song is not about drugs. Why the fuck does every song have to be about drugs? Have you ever heard of a METAPHOR? I'm not even going to waste my time talking about what I think this song is about, because too many of you stoner morons are busy whining like little bitches because you can't scratch your meth sores. Worthless fucking white trash. |
| The Flaming Lips – Bad Days Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Based on the music video I totally agree. God damnit I love that video. It's such a perfect representation of the song and how completely bizarre Wayne Coyne and the band are. | |
| Nine Inch Nails – A Warm Place Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Another Version of the Truth is much better, but nothing beats the awesome eraser sounds as it transitions into the next song. As for all the people with critter rage, cut it out! This song isn't nearly a good enough NIN song for you to bitch about it! | |
| TV on the Radio – A Method Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I agree with Jiffy. It sounds like he's playing with words trying to talk about a car wreck. I don't find TVOTR arrogant enough to write a song about their own artistic process, though I may be completely wrong. They encored with this song live, and Subtle played along with them. Kyp handed my friend standing next to me two sticks to clack together during it. Simply fucking awesome. |
| TV on the Radio – Robots Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Tv on the Radio has grown into my favorite band, but God, do the songs on OK Calculator suck. | |
| TV on the Radio – Things You Can Do Lyrics | 18 years ago |
It seems like most of Return to Cookie Mountain is saying how bad apathy is. In fact, I'd say that's been TVOTR's overall theme in every album and ep they've made so far. Not a bad message though, there certainly isn't a shortage of it in America. |
| TV on the Radio – Young Liars Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is certainly my favorite song as well. They intro'd with this song at the concert I went to. It blew my mind. As for the meaning? I honestly can't peg this one. |
| Bloc Party – Helicopter Lyrics | 18 years ago |
You guys can all suck my cock, cause I listen to the band with the better African Americans, Tv on the Radio. And I basically agree with Sparowe. The only difference is I wish death on people who are as ignorant as virtually everyone on songmeanings.net |
| Queen – Don't Try Suicide Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Wow, to the people who are hating on this album, and the song, I'm surprised. And in this day and age where no one takes things like suicide seriously, in a world where everyone bank's on other people's falsest emotions, this song almost applies more than almost any other Queen song. Sticks the emo crowd in their place. |
| Taking Back Sunday – ...Slowdance on the Inside Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| TBS IS A BUCCUMCH OF BUTTFUCAKING FAGGZORZ LOL | |
| Misfits – Mommy, Can I Go Out And Kill Tonight? Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| lol. | |
| Misfits – Mommy, Can I Go Out And Kill Tonight? Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I wasn't going to respond to this but I decided I want to rag on some mentally retarded person trying to act like they understand the English language. Are you British? Cause the mum comment was even more cliche are you decided to open those moldy teeth of yours. Maybe just meth. Either way Misfits are horrible, I understand what people mean when they are being facetious. The difference is I'm understand the meanings of good music and your's still listening to insane clown posse. |
| Subtle – Swanmeat Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Sorry to say I have no clue what this means, but I'll do what everyone else does and comment on how cool the song actually is. This was the first song I ever heard by these guys, when they opened for Tv on the Radio. Needless to say, they blew my mind and have been a household name around my and my friends...homes. |
| Beck – Broken Drum Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Beck was the only one worthy of writing a song about him. Everyone else ware a bunch of indie fools. And yes, this is easily one of the saddest songs Beck has wrote. Don't dedicate this to anyone you know, or you will surely end up depressed. Haha. |
| Beck – Little One Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is the final little song saying everything is okay in Beck's life. Sea Change really does follow a story of sorts. I think Little One may be a figurative character, or even Beck himself. Or possibly his love. There's a part in another song on Sea Change where he is asking his lost love if he could be her friend; I think this might be characterizing his struggles as her friend. I always thought of little one as a child, my dad used to call me that; but I just don't think that's what it means in this one. I'm surprised this song has so few comments on it. It's really the best song on the album, but I can see people passing up meaning for the one that's been played in all the shitty tv shows/movies Zach Braff is in. |
| Beck – Sunday Sun Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Yes, it is great, but I'm surprised no one has put a meaning down. As everyone knows, Sea Change was the break up album, full of morose tunes that make anyone who's ever experienced a break up sad and depressed. Well Sunday Sun is the beginning of a bright new future. The tune is upbeat, the lyrics are for the most part. Beck is healing from his loss. This song probably gives me the most hope out of any of the songs on this cd, this and Little One. |
| Beck – Emergency Exit Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I wholeheartedly agree with YanYan's idea. My favorite song off of Guero, and probably my favorite song. The fusion of folk-ish rock with electronic really makes this song great. |
| Beck – John The Revelator Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Indeed, and Depeche Mode's was basically just a blasphemous rape of the actual lyrics | |
| Alanis Morissette – Eight Easy Steps Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song is exactly the same as all other Alanis songs, coolest shit ever. However, Alanis Morissette is to feminist bitching as Trent Reznor is to whining about holes. | |
| Mstrkrft – Easy Love Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song has four lines on it. If it saved your life then it must not have been worth living anyway. This is one of the worst songs off MSTRKRFT's cd. |
| Coldplay – Amsterdam Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Am I the only Coldplay fan that isn't a granola? This isn't about Anne Frank. It has similarities but it's about a bad relationship that's ending. The person is free after she cut him loose. Sarcastically he says "time is on your side" signifying that she will have all the time in the world to live her life without him. People seem to believe that you have all the time in the world to live. Much like God Put a Smile on Your Face, this is a subtle unhappy song. Coldplay isn't always happy, but this isn't a song I would necessarily "sob on the floor" about. |
| Saul Williams – Grippo Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is the coolest song on the album. I can tell parts ofYear Zero was really inspired by Williams' work. I think this song is talking about how ignorant people can be when a certain race tries to own a genre of music, when it just pushes us further apart. It's about how true "stars" or people who are making a difference don't actually argue about stupid trivial shit |
| Taking Back Sunday – ...Slowdance on the Inside Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Wow, I'm completely disappointed. This was my favorite Taking Back Sunday song and I find out it's about John Nolan? TBS is so fucking lame. What kind of scene, emo losers would diss each other on albums in such a queer, moronic fashion? Did Adam and John fuck all the time? Because it sure sounds like Adam was the bitch in the relationship. |
| Taking Back Sunday – Spin Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I like how about five people put down actual interpretations of the song. The rest were "d00d the drumming wus sooooo COOL!!! LOL" I still have questions about the random abortion line, but I don't think it's even in the song. I stopped paying attention to the extra lyrics on TBS' liner notes. Even with the "darkness" they supposedly unleased with Louder Now, TBS is still up to their old cheese antics. Goddamnit, such a cliche bunch of fuckers, I can't figure out why any of their songs have been good to me at all over the years. |
| The White Stripes – Catch Hell Blues Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I'm surprised nobody commented on the fact that the drumline is almost identical to My Doorbell. | |
| Mstrkrft – Work on You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think this song is about sex. See, metaphorically "working on her" might be pressuring the woman to have sex with him. "I'm going to make you mine" might possibly be talking about rape because it's not giving her a choice. Jesse F. Keeler has often talked about how his mother abused him and this would lead to why I would believe that the rape idea is true. There is a twist though: "Under the disco light" Anyone that's at a disco in the year 2006-2007 is by product of elimination, gay. So I think this song is actually about making some guy Jesse's bitch, probably Fred Durst. Fukcing overanalytical bastards. |
| Misfits – Mommy, Can I Go Out And Kill Tonight? Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Yeah honestly, I have no respect for anyone that sings about killing people. It's completely uninspired bullshit. The Misfits are shit. |
| The White Stripes – I'm Slowly Turning into you Lyrics | 18 years ago |
When a girl I had been dating for awhile broke up with me, I was pretty annoyed because many of the things that reminded me of her were things I was doing myself. I still have a lot of mannerisms I inadvertantly took from her along with numerous sayings and things. I'm pretty sure this is straight up relationship issues, association issues specifically. Of any of the songs that probably aren't political, this would be among the top three or so I'm sure aren't. |
| The White Stripes – Effect and Cause Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think this is about abortion too. Jack White has always used childish imagery in his songs and the candy cane stripes were used because they were something children like. Jack White is probably not for abortion. I doubt this is at least completely about Iraq. I love the differences between band's lyrics interpretations. You look at Primus and everything is "I tHANK EVRY THANG IS ABOUT LSD!!11" and you go to The White Stripes and because a couple of songs have political undertones the entire Icky Thump album is about politics. To reference the thinkers of the With Teeth NIN era, the whole "Every song after The Hand That Feeds is about Bush" concepr is getting old and stupid. Don't try to turn everyone into Green Day people. Especially not someone like the Stripes. |
| The White Stripes – Icky Thump Lyrics | 18 years ago |
People are being real fucking stupid about this song. Ciesiesl has it right, but it is a mild way complaining about how fucking idiotic our ignorant country is about things. The character Icky Thump was made to make light of how completely annoying it is when people bitch about people having jobs we won't even do. There is no fucking way to prove either side, so just quit arguing about it guys. Statistics don't mean shit unless you're directly involved in every aspect of the universe. Shut the fuck up everyone, seriously. |
| Animal Collective – Leaf House Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| The Animal Collective is pretty lame anyway...Hardly a reason for a bunch of indie wannabe's to get all riled up over. | |
