Just getting into Interpol. What i heard was that the singer is a young guy in relationship with older women trying to prove himself to be old and mature. Trying to prove to the woman that he is not so young and naive that he'll fall in love but that he can have an emotionless purely sexual relationship. Perhaps showing himself as the younger, supposedly inexperienced one to be in control of the relationship, while she in fact is the one falling. |

Seems to me its about life on a grander scale. We go through life blindfolded, only later gaining the experience and wanting to return to the beginning (can i start this again?) and walk through the "field of trees" with more care. "dirty hands" being sins one might want to atone if given a second chance. The striking image of smokers outside hospital doors it seems to me fits nicely with the idea that if u run into a forest blindfold sooner or later ur gonna smack ur head. Smokers outside hospital doors arent even making a good go of the one chance at life they have. |

Just saw Maximo Park at Glastonbury. Not even a massive fan but it was easily one of the highlights of the festival. He said this song was about a lot of mashed up memories of different things. |
