| Andrew Bird – Banking on a Myth Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"when the words we use have lost their bite now they hit you like an imaginary pillow fight," This line sticks out of the entire song-to me at least-because of how inefficient language when it comes to expressing emotion because every one person has different associations with common words; finding right words to connect with other people is often imposible because evreyone has different backrounds with these words, therefore leading to false interpritations. "but it's alright, yeah, 'cause your inside," This line seems to abandon ego and enforce that pure emotion/happiness comes from within and it loses significant quality/meaning when conveyed to other people; to accomplish anything worthwhile, you must abandon your ego and self-consciousness. Then and only then can you co-exist with other people and understand what you and others are embracing (experience in general). "A Guy I'd like to thank," would be one who accepts religion, concepts, anything without question, "banking on a myth" would be letting the world's preset foundation guid you through life. "if you could just do him this favor although it might involve child labour" This could suggest that it's easy to blindly be modled into whatever your culture suggests and commit immoral acts without realizing how terrible they are. "join his entourage, give him a foot massage" Possibly benefiting others unintentionally because of how enrolled you are in your lifestyle. "from Star Search to the Philharmonic he'll get you there with Hooked on Phonics he's the one to know, doesn't matter if you blow no, no, no, no, fact it's just the thing he thinks we're needing it's a lukewarm liquid diet they're force feeding" Maybe the suggestion that the proposed understanding of things is superficial and the meathods used to teach are inefficient because of how uniform the procedure is, not even acknowledging the fact that different people have different needs and thought processes. The Thought that 'anyone can play the violin by taking violin lessons' is wrong because everyone is different; the term 'anyone' can't be applied to everything. Lastly, being force-fed a mundane, trivial, step-by-step existence is so common that those who have been encrypted like that find alternate thought processes abnormal, frightening, or inaccurate. They may think we need structure to our lives ("he thinks we're needing"). Perhaps too much thought went into this, but often disecting a song and interpereting it in your own unique way is what a song-writer intends. Just a fullfilling step in enjoying a song and in the process you may end up relating to an artist you love. |

| The Zombies – Butcher's Tale (Western Front 1914) Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This song is obvioously about WWI after he read "All Quiet on The Western Front" and how you can get a false sense of happiness to compensate for such a terrible experience. A very artistic style of songwriting when it comes to the melody; it's on it's way to being one of my favorite songs. |

Does the tile have anything to do with the song? I don't see how it does, but I still love this song, along with the rest of the album. |

| It reminds me of Revolver the way the guitar skips the first beat... Discrete hints of Doctor Robert & the harmonies of Here There and Everywhere. | |

☺I think the missing part is: One time did less harm alone I know the groups are evil but it really sounds like: One time D less harm alone... why doesn't anybody have it? |
