I think InternetUser000 did a great job but I've got some other ideas when it comes to this song. I actually realized what it was about when I was writing a comment about the sharpest lives now I can finally see how this two songs are linked together again I already Know this will be a long comment.... Ok here’s what I think: the patient is in a hospital as we found out in dead he is dieing from cancer and has 2 weeks to live he is lonely and the girl he loves doesn’t come to visit him so he thinks she doesn't love him any more. He thinks that this is because he had done some bad things in his life. he is talking to himself about all the bad things he had done: To un-explain the unforgivable, Drain all the blood and give the kids a show. By streetlight this dark night, A séance down below. There're things that I have done, You never should ever know! so he cant explain "the unforgivable" he can't explain why he did thouse things. He is dying-"drain all the blood" and at this point he is pathetic so by being like this he is giving the kids a show. The kids are most likely immature people who like to stare when someone is hurt and it is like a show for them. so tonight he is alone and has nothing to do better then to go in to the dark now in the next lines i think there is the biggest reference to The Sharpest Lives: By streetlight this dark night, A séance down below. so in my opinion in The Sharpest Lives he is spending the rest of his days partying, getting drunk and so on. so down below can mean that he is sinking so low and the dark night may not just mean that it realy is night time it can also mean that he is feeling lonely and that everything inside him is dark, his soul is in the dark. So basically in this lines he decides how he is going to spent his last 2 weeks on earth and in The Sharpest Lives we get the picture. " There're things that I have done, You never should ever know!" In this lines we he is just telling about the bad things he had done and maybe that this is for the best that she is not here so she doesn’t know I also think that all this about doing something bad continues in I Don't Love You and Cancer it is kinda hard to write about one song only because they are all very nicely linked together and it is sometimes hard to explain from where you get a meaning of a certain line. And without you is how I disappear, And live my life alone forever now. And without you is how I disappear, And live my life alone forever now. The chorus is simple: He is just telling her (in his head, because she is not there) that he is disappearing without her. Disappearing means that he is not the men he used to be he is fading away into the night, leaving the world behind and he will never fall in love again( if you read my comment about The Sharpest Lives this should explain why I wrote that he doesn't love the girl from that song) Now comes the hard part: Who walks among the famous living dead, Drowns all the boys and girls inside your bed. I actually think that he is the one who walks among the famous living dead(but you never know what Gerard met right? Actually it makes a lot of sense when you put Bert in the story but I don't think this was suppose to be about him but still i think Gerard was thinking about Bert so this song is kinda a mix of the story and the personal life and he did say that so is the album) well back to the topic. He walks among the dead because as I've said his soul is in the dark so there is just a body left and the soul is almost gone (this actually makes me think that cancer on this record can be used as a metaphor like when a person is passing away the body is still here and the soul is gone. Actually as I've said in my other comments the album is telling about all the bad things we do in our lives and that we should live our lives to the fullest before it is to late.) So the part about all the boys in girls in your bed maybe the bed isn't the real bed. This thought just came to me the bed is very intimate right? So maybe every time he slept with her or was close to her in any other way he brought all the bad things into her life all the boys and girls can be the bad people from the Sharpest lives so this shows that he has already(before doing this when he found out that he is sick) done some bad things drugs, alcohol, hurt someone Basically gone out to parties where there are bad people(well you know the kand that put you on drugs or talk you into doing something you don’t really want to do... And if you could talk to me, Tell me if it's so, That all the good girls go to heaven. Now he is realy despirate(hope I speled it right my english isn't very good) and is losing his mind so he is calling for her and asking her if all good girls go to heaven so he thinks that she is pure and hoping that she will go to heaven even after he made her ditrty( the girls and the boys in her bed=all the bad things he brought into her life, her soul) and this doesn't really has to mean that she is dirty from sleeping with him.... Well, heaven knows So he gets a little bit back to normal and sais that only heaven knows that. then the chorus again Then my favorite part: "Can you hear me cry out to you? Words I thought I'd choke on figure out. I'm really not so with you anymore. I'm just a ghost, So I can't hurt you anymore, So I can't hurt you anymore." he is calling her again, he is loseng his mind(about the part of losing his mind it is hard to get it from the lyrics though there are a few words but you can really get it from the music and the way Gerards voice changes) "Can you hear me cry out to you? Words I thought I'd choke on figure out." He is probably asking her to forgive him (though as we will find out later in I Don't Love You she wasn't mad at him) "Words I thought I'd choke on" it is hard for him to say i'm sorry so this again shows that he wasn't such a good person before but for her he is willing to not just say them but scream them out. this means he REALLY loves her, not like the girl from The Sharpest Lives. The part about saing he is sorry is also again brought up in Famous Last Words(you see it is hard to talk just about one song) I'm really not so with you anymore. he is leaving, going into the dark- into the kind of life-night life he left some time before. Some might think that this line ment that he dies, but as I've said if you take all the songs together you'll understand that he didn't die in this song because in TSL he is still alive and is spending the days that he has left partying, I'm just a ghost, he is out of her life so he will be just a ghost for her, but ghosts hunt peole that they loved (or hated) so he will still be with her(in his thoughts) but he will not be able to hurt her"So I can't hurt you anymore, So I can't hurt you anymore." And now, you wanna see how far down I can sink? Let me go, fuck! So, you can, well now so, you can I'm so far away from you. Well now so, you can. He is again screming his heart out and asking her does she realy want to see him sink so low, be so pathetic (you know like all the people who get drunk because they are sad) Does she really want to see how low can the one who loves her sink because of her(he is making himself leave her because he loves her and doesnt want to herat her he heart her already by doing all the bad things he has done before and doesnt want to see her suffer because of his death again this continues in IDLY) The let me go part is him begging her to relise him from her spell so he can just let go and leave the last 2 weeks on earth how he wants to. Fuck Well I don't need to explain that do I? So, you can, well now so, you can Now she can see how low he can sink. I'm so far away from you. Well now so, you can. again he is far away from her so she wount be hurt and she can see what she has done to him (At this point there is a strugel going on inside of him just like in IDLY he knows he has to leave her it is better for her but he loves her and doesnt want to) And without you is how I disappear, And without you is how I disappear, Whoa whoa... Plz read the all comment :) Ok this is what i think. since the all story is about a man passing away maby he knows that he has 2 weeks to live as said in Dead, then in this Is How I Disapear I have no idea what is going on but in The Sharpest Lives I Think This Is What Heppends: The guy, The Patient call him how you like knows he wiil soon die so he wants to do all the things that he hasn't done because since he is dieing he feel lonely: "Well it rains and it pours When you're out on your own" So he goes out partying, getting drunk, maybe uses drugs: "If I crash on the couch Can I sleep in my clothes? 'Cause I've spent the night dancing I'm drunk, I suppose If it looks like I'm laughing I'm really just asking to leave" As for the "Leave" part i think is should be "leave this alone" like he is askking to leave him alone and just let him live the remaining part of his life like he wants to. Then I think he meets this girl like you know the ones that go sleeping aroun for money and he needs her to spent a last hight with somebody weel you get my drift and "your in time for the show" I think means that she got in time to pick him up: "you're in time for the show You're the one that I need I'm the one that you loathe" "You can watch me corrode like a beast in repose 'Cause I love all the poison Away with the boys in the band" I think that the line "You can watch me....." means that she will se how pathetic he realy is because he is dieing but she doen't care and he doesnt care too he just wants to spent hes last night with someone who knows what she is doing in bed ges i get a little caried away on that ow well that is ehat i get from thouse lines :) Now then thje part "'cause i love all...." i think this is how he is on drugs, alchogol (and this sex that is not leading to enihting because there is no love or atraction in it because the girl is doing it for the money and he is because he feels lonely) I think this is what poison is. "A kiss and I will surrender" I think he is just saing that it is easy to get with him and he will go with any girl(another part that shows that this is not about love) "The sharpest lives are the deadliest to lead" He is saying thatto lead this kind of life is deadly( the drugs, this kind of sex etc.) so probably since the all album is about life (yes i do think that it is about life not death if you try to listen to it more carefuly you will understand that MCR are trying to tell us (as always) that we should chose life not death) he is trying to tell us that we should not do this things, we shouldn't live our lives like this but since he is going to die soon so what the hell he might as well have some fun. I also think that this song along with Disenchanted is telling us to leave our lives to the fullest so that when we die we wount be sorry for waisted time but it is also telling Not to use drugs etc. So Yeah like that... Back to the Lyrics "A light to burn all the empires So bright the sun is ashamed to rise and be In love with all of these vampires" This is a hard one but ok maybe the drugs and all the other bad things i've writen above are "A brigtht ligth" like just a moment that blinds you and this "lite" burns down empires like is destrois every thing your life. "The sun is afraid to rise" something like the sun like the soul or God or maybe really just the sun is ashamed to see this kind of things and since it all usially happends at night( the parties with drugs etc) it doesn't like the soul is covered with "night" and only the body is doing it all and the soul is asleep "The sun is afraid to rise" For the part "in love with all of this vampires" as gerard said abou the song Vampires Will Never Hurt You : "Yeah we probably use vampires as a metophore for something else. There's just something about the bloodsucking walking dead, that can say so much to people. there are realy so many people trying to get control over you on a daily basis and steal your soul in some way, take a part of you..." this is one of touse times i tink he is refering to the girl and all the people who are surounding him at this parties as vampires because they are not his friends they just want something from him. "So you can leave like the sane abandoned me" This jus proves what i've said above they will leave him as soon as they get what they want it is also saing that he is kind of going out of his mind "like the sane abandoned me" "There's a place in the dark where the animals go You can take off your skin in the cannibal glow" This describs the places where he goes to eskape his lonelyness he also describes people he meats there and him self as animals as i've said the soul is asleel and there is only a body like an animal( by the way i love animals) "In the cannibal glow" the people that go there are "eating" each other they are killing each- using eact other out other so they are like cannibals. "Juliet loves the beat and the lust it commands Drop the dagger and lather the blood on your hands, Romeo" "Juliet loves the beat and the lust it commands"- so this is about the girls that come there and the one he is going with they love the lust that the sounds there (not necessarily music, it can be the soud of people tallking in drunk voices, screaming, laughing actually i think it's the soud of all of them mixed together) Now for the part about the Romeo it is refering to the guys that come there( pretty easy hu?) so the dagger represents the death they kill each other and the girls that are with them "lather the blood on your hands" first of all it is saing that they have killed other people so maybethis means that there can be cdriminals in that place too but it also is sayng that the wash away the blood from their hands and go on doing what they did there before. All that cosidered: It is a terible place and all that come there are terible people. Well tht is pretty much all... now then the story shortly is: the patient is feeling lonely so he goes out partying the places he goes to are awful so are the people there they don't care abot others they get what hey want and leave, they are waisting their lives. For the deeper meaning don't waist your live at such places, don't use drugs and such. And well there no surprise when it comes to MCR- Don't kill yourself. Ow and by the way while writing this I got the meaning of This Is How I Disapear I'll post it in that forum.
