this song is just too good, the beach house is symbolic of a place to get away from everyone and be by yourself. i grew up listening to jimmy buffett and this is most definitely one of his best songs and one that sticks out in my head when i think of jimmy buffett.

the way i understand the first two lines, for me, is someone critcizing who you are or what you do, and replying sarcastically with sorry, i'm being myself, who else should i be or why should i change myself for you...but that's how i understand it |
