kelllaa Jason was still in the band when they recorded the newer version of this song, he is still all over the new album, the only time you'll hear Derek singing Jason's parts in these songs will be when you see the band live, and the songs sound just as amazing live and they put on a great show. Jason leaving the band being the cause for the different sound on the new album is a very frustrating and unfortunately common misconception that a lot of people are making. The production on the album compared to the EP is just very different [better] and they shifted their sound a tiny bit, other than that, Jason is still all over the new album because he quit way after it was recorded. |

Jake and Jeremy [Cabbage] split them up in most of the songs, but i'm pretty sure that in this song Jake is doing Jason's parts, it still sounds good, but i really do miss Jason being in this band. I am one of the lucky few who got to see them live a couple of times while Jason was still in the band, and though i've seen them many more times without Jason, i still miss him being in the band, but still, they're really good, and Jason has a new band that is good too, so i guess everybody wins, right? haha |

listening to the newer version of the song it seems pretty clear to me that they are singing "Fight all over, when it's over" which makes sense because it seems like the song is talking about how great things could be in this dream of his, but when the dream is over it's back to reality, and the reality is just a bunch of fighting and not goodness, what do you think? |

and i'm sorry to tell you, Addictedandlovinit, but this song is not on their new CD, the only songs on the new CD that have been released to the public [so far] are the newer version of "When I Get Home You're So Dead", "Black Cat" and "Jamie All Over", except the version of "Jamie..." that's circulating on the internet and download sites is the old version that Jason Lancaster sings on with his old band Kid Named Chicago. The Mayday Parade version of "Jamie..." is a little bit different and doesn't include one of the verses that the Kid Named Chicago version has, plus Derek sings lead in the Mayday Parade version of it instead of Jason. the new CD is awesome though, everyone should definitely get it when it hits stores July 10, or even better, pre-order it now [myspace.com/maydayparade] and get a free shirt with it... sweeeeet! -Brittany |

sailawayxx: the reason the vocalist sounds different live is because one of the band members left the band after the release of the EP that this song is on. Jason, the vocalist/guitarist that left the band did a lot of vocals for the band, and has a very distinct singing voice that you would have heard had you seen the band live before like march of this year. otherwise, Derek sounds pretty spot on to the way he sounds on the EP and in recordings when he sings live. anyway, this is definitely my favorite song to watch them play live so far, at this point i've seen them live 8 times, and this song is always so lively and energetic and it just always gets the crowd so pumped up... it's just great! again, if you haven't seen this band live yet, you definitely need to! -Brittany |

funny note: The band recently played a show in Roseville, CA, and Derek was in my car with me as we were driving to the venue. On the drive we talked about a lot of things, and one of them was our opinions on religions/our personal beliefs and such. When we got to the venue we realized that it was like a venue within a church, which we thought was a bit weird, but whatever, the turnout was still alright... Anyway, that night the band had to play a semi-acoustic set because Jake [the drummer] had to go home for what we're calling a family emergency. **May i just take this time to say that the set was absolutely amazing! i loved it, and the crowd seemed to really enjoy it too!** Anyway, so longer story short, when the band played this song, at the part where it says "simple little WHORE" Derek started the line confidently "for such a--" and then started looking around nervously ".. simple little..." and then almost looked scared as he said a little softer "whore?" haha and it was just such a funny moment, and almost ironic too considering the things we'd discussed earlier, haha... probably a once-in-a-lifetime moment, because at the rate they're growing at, i doubt they'll be playing little 'half-venues' like that much longer, but definitely one i think of every time i listen to the song... which is A LOT, haha along with the whole EP and extra tracks i have by them. haha good times =) i love this band! |

a year and a half ago this was the song that made me fall in love with this band! i got hooked on every second of it when i felt like these guys were singing about my relationship with the only boyfriend i regret ending things with. it felt like my feelings were finally put in tangible words, and in such a beautiful song too! ah... it still makes me tear up every now and then! haha and the acoustic version of it is beautiful too! speaking of which, Derek taught me how to play the piano intro of the acoustic version of the song the other day... sweet. -Brittany |

i may just be adding to the confusion here but for the longest time i thought it said "and you were just supposed to tell me that you meant that you were sorry and that--" or something like that, but listening to it over and over just now i'm gonna go with taylerx0 and agree that he's saying "And you were just about to tell me how you meant that you were sorry" or something along those lines... either way, i think anyone who's been in a relationship that ends abruptly and to their dismay can relate to this song... the famous 'talk' that you think is about something else and ends up being the 'break up' and you just feel like saying "'i'll be okay', is that what you want me to say?! it's called break up, cuz it's broken, DUH." and then looking back on it in retrospect you think to yourself "well i thought that we could sit around and talk for hours... about things i couldn't say to [this person], and things that we could never do"... i LOVE this band, if you haven't seen them live yet, you NEED to! i've seen them 8 times now [and counting]! -Brittany |
