i think he was trying to be an ass(no disrespect) when he says his pain is "self chosen". that is, hes really saying he had no part in the pain his life has brought him, its unbearable. he could kill himself and suffer Hell, " I COULD EITHER BURN" or just accept his life the way it is. second stanza "AT LEAST I BELEIVE IT TO BE"- hes expected to beleive this, through a theological perspective. "I COULD EITHER DROWN, OR PULL OFF MY SKIN AND SWIM TO SHORE" - he can't accept what his life is after all, the only escape is suicide |

fuck man, why do so many people want to attribute layne's lyrics to addiction. 90% of the subject matter he wrote about is the pain in his life that led him to drugs, not the drugs themselves |

im about 99% sure thats layne, but either way its an awesome song. i dont usually like this particular type of music, but you can really feel the pain in the lyrics and vocals. because of that im more inclined to think it really is layne |

in alot layne's lyrics, he jumps around from 1st,2nd, and 3rd person. also, he talks about completely different subjects in different sections. i think in the first part of this song, hes referring to God, which he does at one point or another in nearly all of his writings. the rest of it, sillybilly gots it right i think. |

Ductape, your ridiculous. not only is your analysis of this song incredibly stupid, but you also wanna bash tom-van, who sounds like he knows his shit. as to your "Chemical Addiction" reference, theres a big difference between pot and heroine, read the lyrics over again. another thing, more than half of the band's lyrics associated with drugs are half and half, divided with the drugs themselves, and the pain in their lives that drove them to it. Preach on Tom-van, dont listen to the 13 year old. |
