I agree with Lainason, but everyone is kinda right.
It's, to me, about how you like someone, so naturally you'll help them out. Not necessarily expecting something, but over time you'd think your niceties will be paid off through dating (or whatever). You're so willing to help them with everything just so they'll hopefully realize how nice you've been and return the favor somehow. |

From Wikipedia:
Savasana (Sanskrit: शवआसन, śavāsana, "Corpse Pose", alternately spelled Shavasana or Sarvasana, and also known as mrta-asana) is a yoga asana often used to begin and conclude a yoga session. It is a relaxing posture intended to rejuvenate one's body, mind and spirit. While savasana is a good way to reduce stress and tension, it is not recommended for meditation as it has a tendency to induce sleepiness. If afflicted by drowsiness or restlessness of the mind while performing savasana, increase the rate and depth of breathing. |

this song is about his stepfather beating him. throughout the album John talks about how he was overbearing, mean, etc. Like it's been said, in Dance Music, his stepfather throws things at his mom and they are yelling and john's only means of mental escape is to curl up by his stereo and listen to dance music. This is why he can't live without it, it provides him with a temporary release from his stepfather. |

i can relate more to this song than any other song i've ever heard in my entire life.
to me, it's about a relationship that is crumbling. The girl is most likely cheating on him (i see you hold his hand), and he knows it's over. He's been ready for it to be over for a while, or at least knew it was going to happen (i don't know you anymore, so i'm not going to cry now). She leaves him to travel, maybe she's coming back, maybe it's a one-way, but it doesn't matter. The narrator is so far detached from the girl he doesn't even care anymore. |

it sounds like the narrator (John i guess) is surrounded by nobody. He doesn't really have any good friends, his teachers don't help much despite their efforts, his home life isn't very satisfying (i get that since the house seems to be messy, and nobody to finish the ice cream with) and he doesn't see why he should go on (his writing reasons to freeze to death)...however, this girl means so much to him that it's all worth it. |

I think xcats is pretty correct about everything. The treasures gleaming like stars and everything going florescent is the cops using black light to clean everything up. naturally, stuff would have been spilled, and that (as well as everything else) is glowing under the black lights.
the "i wish you had a number where you are, it's hard with no one here to help me through it" could be a few things. The person the song is about (or people) either died, or probably arrested, or just left. John (the "me") is having a hard time coping with everything, maybe even trying to get off meth, but is having trouble with no motivation/people to help him. |

"the best ever death metal band out of denton
will in time both outpace and outlive you"
I'm not sure, but just now thinking about that line, i think it means that the band will go on forever (or past ''your'' life anyways) because it's their dream and it's what they (Jeff and Cyrus) want to do. Dreams will live forever, especially those that are followed and not abandoned. |

I think this is about his stepfather beating him. In "Dance Music" (also from The Sunset Tree), he says how the one thing that he can get away with is his stereo and listening to dance music. In that song, his stepfather throws a glass at his mother's head. It's not unlikely that this behavior might also occur with John too.
His stepfather is angry (hence the spittle on his lips?) a lot, and waking him up is something John fears to do. |

I think this song is about him becoming sober, and no longer on Meth. I think it's pretty obvious when you keep that in mind and read the lyrics.
Xcats summarizes it pretty well.
He's also going to apologize and such for those who went through that with him, emotionally, and physically. And apologize to those he hurt.
I think too, that he wants to be able to bring those that have been lost (through addiction) back to life, because he's finally sober and "free" |

The first stanza sets up the scene. John (or the Narrator) visited a friend in the ICU. I assmue he was there because of an overdose of Meth (which is why he's handcuffed). He must have also hurt his head or something, perhaps when he was high.
I don't exactly know what the chorus means, but maybe that John is coming out of his normal place of "the underground" (where he lives with fellow users, or so) and comes to the real world, risking everything to see his friend.
They then medicate him, and maybe the information they want is whether the person will live. |

This song is obviously about someone seeing someone die. In this case, they're in a store. I think they ran into eachother, but if not, they are both knocked out/knocked to the ground at the same time. The narrator is unconscious and sees the woman's soul/body still living, and he tries to save her by closing the hole. I think they might have known eachother, or at least liked eachother as "i saw you with a smile on your radiant face."
The last part is about him watching her die, as the blood flows from her head.
Amazing song, absolutely amazing. |

Xcats, I never thought about a drug angle necessarily, but the last stanza certainly does infer that there is a central location that is bringing people from different places (backgrounds, etc) together. And it's not necessarily a good reason, but more like drugs or alcohol from "some were bright eyed, some were dead on their feet." |
