| Is it just me, or does this song imply some teenage girl with this innocent, wholesome crush ("you say you love me, and I hardly know your name" "the way you love me is the sweetest love around") on a guy who knows he's too old for her ("...and if I say I love you in the candlelight, there's no one but myself to blame" "you make wonder if I live my life right"), but he still kind of lusts after her ("but there's something inside that's turning my mind away....oh, how I could love you if I could let you stay")? | |

"In Seven Days" is indeed a great song. I absolutely adore Freddie's vocal performance on this one.....he sounds lovely. What I didn't get was, were they hooking up on Friday, or is it truly intended as a sentimental love song? The song is so sentimental, it kind of implies something suggestive. And also, the narrator of the song struck me as being slightly stalker-ish. I mean, he sees this hot babe on the beach and he's "holding her close to him" only three days later........ |

I read somewhere that Brian May wrote this song in college, he had this huge crush on some girl and he didn't have the nerve to face her, so he wrote this song in light of that situation. As to whether the song is connected with March of the Black Queen.........my guess is probably not. It's a very interesting interpretation, but I bet it's just a coincidence. Freddie wasn't one for doing things like that with song lyrics. Here's what he said about his lyrics: "People are always asking me what my lyrics mean. Well I say what any decent poet would say if you dared ask him to analyse his work: if you see it, darling, then it's there." |
