| Peter And The Wolf – My Grey Overcoat Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I've listened to this album dozens of times, and only now did this song really catch my attention. Reminds me of my travel-crazy penpal in northern England. He and I have been writing letters for two years, and we always send them in the care of our imaginary carrier gulls. My heart swelled in my chest when I really heard these lyrics for the first time tonight. | |

| Animal Collective – Brother Sport Lyrics | 17 years ago |

"open up your throat" "let that 'oh'/ let the 'oh'/ let them go" "you gotta wake up in the mornin'/ you gotta have a real good time" "you've got a real good shot/ you've got so much inside/ let it come right out" sounds like giving head to me. |

| Sigur Rós – Gobbledigook Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Icelandic Animal Collective! I knew this song sounded vaguely familiar. It's pretty different from their usual stuff, but I love it! | |
| Loney, Dear – I Fought the Battle of Trinidad & Tobago Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| i wish i couldn't relate to this song. | |
| Say Hi – Oboes Bleat And Triangles Tink Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
the obvious message is that there's no point in fighting the inevitable truth of something, whether it be a mutual romantic attraction or the tinking of the triangle. i love the simplicity of this song so much right now. |

| The Most Serene Republic – Stay Ups Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| 2:26 is mind-blowingly gorgeous every time. The song just reminds me of that natural intoxication with life, that "we can't sleep now so much to do with all this dizziness in truth" feeling. Though those lyrics aren't in the song, they're perfect to describe it. | |
| Stars – Barricade Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think it's "You looked like you'd been softened, like you never really loved the pain," like she had lost the strong spirit he fell in love with her for. | |
| Stars – One More Night Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| at their show tonight, he prefaced this song with "and here's a song about fucking someone until they die!" love them! | |
| Stars – Petit Mort Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I've heard the "le petit mort" thing as a euphemism for an orgasm, too. I think it's too widespread to refute. | |
| Stars – The Beginning After the End Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| They say that hindsight is 20/20, but after this war is over, we won't know what we fought for--not really, at least. I love the images of waking up--after sleeping on it--in "our bedrooms" because it is universal. And though we all will try, we won't be able to justify the loss. | |
| Iron & Wine – Boy with a Coin Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
To me, this song represents that amidst personal disaster and hopeless abandon is the idea that the world is terribly off-kilter and unjust, that god has been the one who abandoned us all. At the time that our innocence is taken, around the ages of the children in the song (which I assume to be between eight and eleven), god/hope has abandoned us because people can't be saved after they are ruined. It's depressing, but I adore the meaning behind this song. Maybe it'll make people appreciate the good in their lives. |

| Arcade Fire – Haiti Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Sorry, it was Baby Doc, not Papa Doc. | |
| Arcade Fire – Haiti Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Obviously, this song is all about Régine and her fleeing from Haiti under the "Papa Doc" Duvalier regime. And I agree that the peppy music fits. Arcade Fire is so all-over-the-place that it works. And "Haiti" never caught my attention until I heard it live two nights ago. This was the greatest show I've ever seen and "Haiti" was the greatest performance of the night because it really showcased how talented they are (especially Régine since this is one of her solo songs). See them live, no matter what! You might get a new favorite song. I know that mine have shifted since I saw them. | |
