I always picture doctors and nurses at a hospital when I hear this song.
"Take on another shift, palms in the middle, hands in the middle"
Someone has taken another shift and as it starts everyone working creates a huddle and just hopes for a good shift.
"I’m afraid this is, Ten detected, nine in a wreck and…"
Nine in a wreck is a mass car crash that the hospital has to deal with, and it will "take all evening."
Combining it with cagilette's interpretation, this is the narrator's "foreground" or life. |

Yeah, I don't really believe that. We all know that this was a Valentine's day present, so I think that this still falls in the category of a love song. I think he means you're going to drive me crazy and mad in love, and as long as you stay with me better things are coming.
Even though they broke up. |

I think it might be about the music industry, and how Nate feels about his music and how the public will react to it. "I'm cursed be all ambitious thoughts," is of course Nate and all his musical ideas. All the last lines, "Preparing for failure for what we've been told" and "With nothing to offer so nothings been told" are the thoughts of the young band. |
